1. Ryze 2. Zilean
3. Lucian 2. Khazix
3. Braum 4. Irelia
5. Pantheon 4. Tristana
5. Jayce 6. Thresh

Lane Match-ups – Dark Passage

Top -
Ryze can bully Irelia, though it might not be so wise. With Irelia lower than Ryze, it will put Ryze at risk to be ganked easily by Rengar. Harassment should only be done when he knows that Rengar is on the other side of the map and must be wary anytime his presence is not accounted for. Be especially mindful of low hp ranged creeps and the ability of Irelia to double gap close in those situations. If possible, try to keep the wave slightly on DP's side of the river, giving more time to chase Irelia in a gank, since she has built in tenacity to deal with Pantheon and Ryze CC, and because Ryze will need a short escape route if he gets ganked.

Mid -
Jayce should win this match-up. He has range, poke, and all-in potential against Zilean. He must just make sure that he does not take bomb damage without trading back. Jayce should focus on pushing hard, keeping Zilean stuck to his tower and try to land as much poke as possible onto him. Keep Zilean stuck and do not let him make plays around the map. Jayce's damage will be much higher later on and offer great long range damage before fights. Try to save the knock-back hammer for after Zilean ultimate for greater kill potential.

Bot -
Very strong lane and much stronger than EDG's. Lucian/Braum have amazing synergy and DP should look to bully the lane from level 1 on. The only real fear that DP's duo has is a Thresh hook into tower and everything else should go in their favor. Push hard, get all the poke you can, and get early pinks and sweepers to make sure that Irelia cannot TP to a ward behind you.

Jungle -
Strong early game gank ability. Should look to utilize this with Jayce or the bot lane early on. If bot can get EDG's duo low, a tower dive is highly possible with the double stuns and Pantheons ability to block tower shots. Pantheon should look to gank as often as possible in between jungle camps.

Lane Match-ups – Edward Gaming

Top -
Irelia will get bullied by Ryze early and will be reduced to surviving and farming. It will be rough for a while, but being lower than Ryze will keep his kill potential almost non-existent during the low levels, as well as providing Irelia with an easy way to set up a gank through the long duration of her stun. Once Irelia reaches and 6 and picks up a Sheen, she will have more control over the lane than Ryze. Her all-in onto Ryze will be superior while Ryze is scaling up with his tear/catalyst. Every opportunity after this point should be used to push Ryze out of lane and potentially kill him. Jungle with Khazix will be extremely potent and should be a priority.

Mid -
Zilean is going to have a rough match-up in this middle lane. He cannot fight or even trade harassment with Jayce. He will have to look to farm while hiding behind creeps and use bombs to keep the lane pushing. Mainly Zilean is going to try to say even in the lane and let his passive help out the side lanes and then transition into teamfights with the power of his ultimate.

Bot -
EDG are in for a rough time. They are the inferior lane with a jungler who is weaker in ganks early on. They will have to survive and grab the farm that they can. A lane swap would be possible, but it will put Irelia behind and she needs to stay on par to be relevant. Expect to spend a decent amount of time at their tower and hope for a solid hook into tower range.

Jungle -
Khazix is going to have to look to out-farm Pantheon. Pantheon's ganks are much stronger at the early levels and much easier to pull off. With Zilean as the mid laner, Khazix should hard farm and make use of the experience advantage, showing out of the jungle when he has a level and item advantage over Pantheon. Early options will most likely reside in top lane, though only if they can 2v1 Ryze.

Team Composition/Strategy – Dark Passage

*Win Condition – Win lane, Win game.

Dark Passage have drafted solid champions in all the lanes and with Pantheon are going for heavy early game pressure. Jayce and Ryze will scale more than their opponents, though Ryze will dip below Irelia in the mid game, while Lucian will be very strong early, and only slightly weaker than Tristana later on. DP are looking to run with strong lanes, early game jungle power, and then turn that into a lead that they can snowball into the win. If they can get a solid lead, then a 5 man push using Jayce to poke and then having him and Lucian whittle down turrets will be the optimal strategy.

Team Composition/Strategy – Edward Gaming

*Win Condition – Use Zilean to allow Irelia and Khazix to fight without worry, diving into DP's team to make plays that otherwise cannot be made. Use the fight strength of Irelia and Khazix to build a lead in the mid-game and then scale with Tristana and Khazix into the late game.

EDG have built sort of a solo carry team backed up by Zilean. With their triple threat composition (Zilean doesn't quite make it a Quad Threat), EDG are looking to use Zilean to keep the focused target alive long enough to deal damage and let the other threats deal the damage. EDG should look to use Irelia's power spike with Trinity Force to control some area of the map. Be it top lane, DP's jungle, or the dragon area. Good use of the mid-game power against Ryze should generate a lot of opportunities for EDG. As the game goes on, EDG should begin to out-scale DP's team, provided Lucian or Ryze do not get out of hand.

Game Notes -

Pantheon tries to get a sneaky ward into EDG's blue buff, but gets hooked and is forced to flash away. Really hurts his early gank ability.

Tristana starts with Explosive shot, cause her to lose CS early.

HolyPhoenix on Lucian very rarely uses his double shot procs and this costs them a lot of pressure in this match and others.

DP's duo walks into Flay range and a lantern gank with Khazix earns EDG First Blood and 2 kills onto DP's bot lane.

EDG chase Jayce into DP's jungle, burning lots of flashes. DP's duo lane collapses from their respawn and gets 2 kills in response to Jayce's death, and then EDG lose dragon. This was a chance for EDG to let Jayce go after the flash, back out, and then take dragon 4v3.

Roam by Zilean earns EDG a kill onto Ryze, Ryze loses a lot of CS as the wave is at the turret. Jayce does get a good amount of damage on the middle turret. EDG use the man advantage to take DP's blue buff, after DP takes EDG's.

EDG puts a lot of focus top, helping Irelia get to the point where she can take on Ryze alone.

Ryze chases Irelia after a good gank, but she barely gets away.

DP stick around their bot turret, outnumbered and run in 1 by 1 into 4. DP lose the turret, give up 4 kills and lose dragon. Massive gold swing and now EDG are in full control.

DP do not have much they can do to come back. It could be worthwhile to group as 5 and surprise EDG with a push on the side lanes. Without a solid team composition outside of lane phases, DP can't really fight in 5's. Do crazy pushes, poke with Jayce, try to force EDG around the map and take what you can in the meantime.

For now, it will be another slow whittling down of DP by EDG.

Item Notes -

Jayce goes early Brutalizer instead of Manamune. The early power is good, but it really hurts Jayce's ability to push hard and harass without mana.

Jayce doesn't get a tear till near the 20 minute mark.

End Game Notes -

Lucian lost a lot of damage by rarely using his passive on EDG's team.

Ryze got behind from all the pressure put top while Pantheon put less pressure out than Khazix.

Jayce's item build was not optimal and really hurt him in pushing power and fight ability.

Once DP fell behind, they played completely defensively without having scaling power and got whittled down.

EDG once again take longer than necessary to close out a game.

What Dark Passage should have done -

I have to put a lot of this loss on the individual play of DP. They had a much stronger lane and did not capitalize on it. Lucian lost a lot of damage by not hitting his double-shot on Tristana. This really hurt them when it came to having even HP during the Khazix gank.

Pantheon also makes a weak showing, making very few ganks early on and having little impact. Planning on the bot lane pushing and getting in place for a tower dive would have been ideal, if DP's duo had been better with their trades. Even if Pantheon had got caught at the jungle bush by the tower, Lucian and Braum could have both dashed up to fight with him in a much stronger 3v3 fight. Alternately, though harder, damage onto Zilean would have really helped.

If DP could have got the bot lane rolling well, then Pantheon could have shifted focus to top and protected Ryze from falling so far behind.

Jayce's needed to build his tear early. Going Brutalizer against Zilean does not really amount to much, as Zilean will be avoiding fights as much as possible. Stacking tear, having the mana to push hard and to harass later on was necessary.

Picks
1. Maokai 2. Lucian
3. Rengar 2. Khazix
3. Janna 4. Nunu
5. Kog'maw 4. Thresh
5. Orianna 6. Xerath

Lane Match-ups – Edward Gaming

Top -
Maokai will actually get bullied by Khazix up top. Khazix can spam his Q without drawing creep aggro and is able to gain decent sustain with his W. Maokai will need to look to hit his AoE spells onto Khazix while he pushes, keeping the HP even throughout the lane phase. May want to look for a ward into the lane bush to prevent Khazix passive damage. Look to mostly farm and potentially grab an early armor item, even if just a cloth armor.

Mid -
Mostly a passive farm lane. Orianna should avoid taking poke as much as possible. I would suggest an early boots pick up to do so, and to let her play more aggressively. While it will be hard to get in range, Orianna is able to all in Xerath. Her damage output will be plenty superior as well as being much harder for Xerath to dodge if she is in close. The one counter to this would be if Orianna gets hit by Xerath's stun. At level 6, Orianna will have even greater 1v1 all-in potential, her ultimate being useful in the fight where as Xerath's will not. If at any point Xerath's flash is down and her flash is up, Orianna should play aggressively and flash his stun to go all-in. Great synergy with Rengar.

Bot -
Kog'maw/Janna will be at a disadvantage early on in lane. They will need to plan to just farm for the first few levels, using ranged and Janna shield to prevent as much harassment as possible. Once Janna has level 2 shield, EDG can time some harassment against Lucian with Kog'maw's ranged as long as they can avoid Thresh landing Flay or his hook. Janna's passive will allow Rengar to get into the lane from a lane gank quicker.

Jungle -
Rengar should really have the advantage in this match-up. His clear speed will be higher, and if Nunu tries to invade at the wrong time then Rengar can snare him, hopefully long enough, for his team to collapse and kill him. In a gank, Rengar will definitely be stronger.

Lane Match-ups – Dark Passage

Top -
Khazix should have the slight advantage in top lane. He can bully Maokai early with Q harrass but will most likely be unable to get a kill until he gains enough damage or enough mana sustain to spam through Maokai's sustain. Trying to keep the lane phase going until his second evolve will really be best.

Mid -
Mostly a farm match-up, both champions being picked for the team fight and turret control. Xerath can poke easier, but will lose trades or all-in fights unless he can land his stun. At 6 Orianna will definitely have the fight advantage, however Xerath will be looking to avoid it and just long range farm, waiting for the teams to come together.

Bot -
Lucian and Thresh, team Wife-steal, will have the edge over EDG's duo. Early level 1 harassment will be beneficial, easily able to knock out the Janna shield before Kog'maw can take advantage. A level 2 rush can lead into an all-in fight, and the later levels will still favor DP with Lucian's burst, especially after Lucian picks up his first AD item. The lane will shift once Kog'maw gets his Trinity Force though, and DP will have to be wary of this.

Jungle -
Nunu will be at a disadvantage all game long against Rengar. Weaker farm, weaker ganks, weaker everything really. Nunu has to make a plan for his purpose right from the start for the entire game. Early Baron rush? Solo dragon kills? Attack speed buff bot for the ADC for fast tower pushes? Nunu has to go into this game with a plan, and his team has to support it, otherwise, he's going to look very useless.

Team Composition/Strategy – Edward Gaming

*Win Condition – Play well in the laning phase, wait for Rengar ganks and reach team-fight item spikes. Transition into 5v5 team-fights.

EDG have a team with very heavy engage and team-fight ability. Rengar/Maokai make a great front-line while Rengar/Orianna make for a great engagement. In the back line, Janna/Orianna are very good at being defensive and peeling for Kog'maw while Kog'maw is able to deal out the damage and have poke with his ultimate and tower siege with his range. If things go back early, then Maokai/Rengar can switch from engagement to peel and team protection against DP.

Team Composition/Strategy – Dark Passage

*Win Condition – Win lanes hard, or play one of three strategies with Nunu and dedicate yourself to it.

DP's composition is kinda of meh. They have their work cut out for them once the lanes end and if they are unable to generate a solid lead, will just end in being dismantled. With the champions they have chosen, they have 3 options and must pick one with Nunu.

1. Lane swap and fast push. Start the game in 2v1 lanes, get the double buffs with Nunu and then fast push the turret in the 2v1 lane. Potentially, DP can push down the T2 turret as well if they dedicate themselves to the push. This will allow the duo lane to return to the bot lane with an advantage and DP can then attempt to do the same and fast push the bot turret. After the outer top/bot turrets are down, moving into tower sieging would be their best bet, or use the turret gold/pressure to take dragon.

2. Nunu should leave the lanes to themselves and level Consume and item build to be able to solo Dragon. Take it asap and then on cooldown without letting EDG know when he is doing it. Let this gold snowball the lanes.

3. Sort of an extension of #2, Nunu would farm hard seeking to get an early sneaky Baron (15-17 minutes) with Khazix or maybe the four person over the wall baron with bot/top lane. Surprise DP.

Game Notes -

DP set up an early lane ward between bottom towers to find the 2v2 lane.

Lucian does not use his double shot on Kog'maw at level 1.

Nunu comes up behind Maokai, instead of from the side, gives Maokai the distance to escape the gank.

A great counter gank by Nunu earns DP First Blood, 2 kills for one. Lucian could have flashed for the kill on Kog'maw.

EDG come back and start dragon in a 5v4. DP try to harass but leave too late and get caught after EDG take dragon. EDG gets 2 kills. Should have let it go and just long range harass by Xerath.

Khazix starting to duel Maokai, even under tower.

Lots of defensive pinks on both sides.

Rengar almost dies in a bad gank attempt in mid, does burn Xerath's flash.

Rengar burns his ultimate again to no avail. Would be a good time to try for dragon, though Kog'maw has hit his Trinity Force Spike.

Orianna gets a 1v1 kill onto Xerath, flashes over the wall right on top of Xerath. This is the best spot for Orianna to be against Xerath.

EDG head to dragon, and DP go super aggressive against EDG's bot lane, gets collapsed on and EDG get 2 more kills, dragon, and bot turret. Was not a good choice to go aggressive with the rest of EDG so close. This is just about the closing point of the game.

Rengar finally gets a kill with his ultimate, taking out DP's bot lane.

Note how Khazix is always out of mana when trying to kill Maokai.

DP is now pretty far behind, and Kog'maw is in one of his very strong points. EDG put a lot of pressure on bot lane, getting kills and T2 turret.

EDG put all their pressure on the top side now, taking control of DP's jungle until they are able to take Baron without contest.

EDG are now able to brute force DP's base.

Item Notes -

Would have liked to have seen a Manamune onto Khazix instead of Hydra. He needed the mana for poke and for sustained damage against Maokai up top.

End Game Notes -

Nunu really ends up useless outside of the one counter-gank.

Rengar does not make a very strong showing early, forcing his ultimate too hard and getting very denied.

What Dark Passage should have done -

They needed a dedicated strategy. They ran their team composition pretty much like Solo Que games. Everyone seemed to do their own thing and look to just play/win the game through their own lane. Khazix was only seen once in the match, and so was Nunu essentially. Nunu is not that strong of a champion, but he has some niche strategies that Dark Passage could have done, as described above. I would have really liked to see a Jinx or Caitlyn into 2v1 lanes and fast pushing the 2v1 then the duo lane, netting DP an early advantage and allowing deeper wards against Rengar. Then DP could have pushes hard with their poke/siege ability of Khazix, Xerath, and if they had picked it, Caitlyn/Jinx.

League of Legends Worlds Analysis, Group Stage - SSW vs. DP Game #2

Samsung White vs. Dark Passage Game #2
Standard Lanes

Bans
Nidalee Tristana

Picks
1. Alistar 2. Ryze
3. Khazix 2. Lee Sin
3. Corki 4. Braum
5. Zed 4. Ezreal
5. Janna 6. Fizz

Lane Match-ups – Samsung White

Top -
Alistar should have a bit of a rough time against Ryze. With the range advantage and the lack of all in potential early on for Alistar, Ryze should be able to bully him early. Picking up a point into Alistar's heal at level 2 may be very useful, unless you are expecting a gank from your jungler at that point. Although bullied, Alistar should be able to sustain through it when he picks up his heal. Using mana for the headbutt->auto attack combo will hurt Alistar's longevity in lane but the damage will stick to Ryze. Always keep enough mana for a headbutt/pulverize combo in case of a gank and heal > headbutt harassment when Alistar has extra mana. Wait for your jungler to really go aggressive, farm and play safe till then. (Here we will get to see SSW and Dark Passage's top laners switch champions and see how the match-up fairs this way).

Mid -
Mid will be a very brawl centric lane. With two mid lane melee assassins in the mix, poke, trades, and fights will be almost constant. The rush to level 2 will be very important. If one or the other can definitively reach level 2 first they can all in to grab early lane advantage. Zed will have an easier time harassing with his skillshot Q and his AoE E. Neither of these will pull creep aggro while Fizz will have to auto early on for his harassment. Zed should be stronger at level 2, slightly, and then Fizz at level 3, evening back out after until level 6 upon which Zed should have the advantage. Zed has several ways of dodging Fizz ultimate, be it his own ultimate or shadow play. Fizz on the other hand, can only dodge Zed ult through his pole hop. After 6 if at anytime Fizz's pole hop is down, Zed should go all in.

Bot -
This match-up is fairly even with poke residing on the side of Ezreal/Braum and all-in potential on the side of Corki/Janna. The difference is very slight though in these regards. Corki/Janna will be looking to trade damage against Ezreal while Janna shield is up. Enough harassment this way will ensure them the lane. As long as they don't get out poked, the lane should proceed in a safe, even manner. At level 6 the lane match-up will shift, with poke advantage switching to Corki/Janna and all-in to Ezreal/Braum unless there is a decent amount of creeps hit by Ezreal ultimate. All in all an even lane whose determination will rest upon Janna shield use and Corki/Ezreal properly timing their dash skills.

Jungle -
Fairly even match-up against Lee Sin. Should farm primarily and be ready to counter-engage Lee Sin if he ganks. Best gank opportunities will be in top lane if Ryze over extends. Providing even a small amount of damage mid lane will also swing the lane in Zed's favor. If he can sneak his way bot lane, a counter-engage if Ezreal/Braum or a gank if they are pushed up too far, will be devastating with the burst of Corki.

Lane Match-ups – Dark Passage

Top -
Ryze should have a very easy time against Alistar. While lacking sustain, he does have the bully potential. Ryze should focus on forcing Alistar to use his heal, keeping his mana low to prevent headbutt harassment. Will be a hard lane to get a gank on, especially after level 6, but the lane match-up will allow Ryze to farm and scale with safety.

Mid -
Mid will be a very brawl centric lane. With two mid lane melee assassins in the mix, poke, trades, and fights will be almost constant. The rush to level 2 will be very important. If one or the other can definitively reach level 2 first they can all in to grab early lane advantage. In an even level 2 however, Fizz will be at a disadvantage, as his skills will force the all-in where as zed can provide poke as well as all-in potential. At level 3 though, Fizz will be able to harass with his full kit. Either by dashing in at Zed and hopping out, or by hopping in behind Zed, then dashing through him back to Fizz's side of the lane. Once level 6 comes around, the lane becomes much tougher. Fizz must hold onto his ultimate and his pole hop, otherwise Zed will have the advantage with his ultimate up.

Bot -
This lane is an even match-up, Ezreal and Braum will have the better poke and setup early on, but the damage potential of Corki/Janna is higher, unless they can secure the Braum stun onto Corki. Getting safe poke and farming will be the best option, if enough damage can be tossed onto Corki or Janna, then a potential all in can be had. Ezreal needs to make sure to keep his E shift up to dodge Corki Q and/or Janna Q as these will provide a significant advantage to SSW's bot lane if they hit. At level 6, the poke and all-in potential switch. If Ezreal/Braum can land a stun proc, they can combo it into both of their ultimates, making sure that Ezreal does not get diminished by creeps. This will provide a huge amount of burst and win them the all-in.

Jungle -
Even match-up against Khazix. Farm and look from some sneaky ganks. A bot lane gank onto Janna would prove the most successful. An early top lane gank would also work well, but if both headbutt and pulverize are up, Alistar should be safe. Be prepared to counter-engage a level 2 all-in by Zed should also prove successful

Team Composition/Strategy – Samsung White

*Win Conditions – The first win condition is simply winning lanes and the snowballing that into the mid game power spikes of Corki, Alistar, and Zed. Alternately, a second win condition appears in the form of Zed split-push and Corki/Khazix wave clear.

Once again Samsung White has drafted a team that is very lane focused with much less focus on team synergy past the laning phase. This composition is all about outplaying Dark Passage early and snowballing a lead. There does exist a backup plan this time around though. If Samsung White cannot find the skirmishes they want and are unable to win 5v5's, Zed can split-push while Khazix and Corki wave clear and/or turret siege with Janna and Alistar providing disengage and anti tower dive against Dark Passage.

Team Composition/Strategy – Dark Passage

*Win Conditions – Win lanes and turn that lead into small skirmish wins. Get Fizz and Ryze into their hyper carry late game status.

Dark Passage's team comp does not have a very solid strategy but rather have picked comfort champions. They have chosen two very hard scaling laners in Ryze and Fizz who while superior in the late game to Alistar/Zed, must get ahead early to provide any mid game benefit. If they can not pull a lead early on, Ryze and Fizz will be very weak until the late game mark. Additionally, DP is lacking any kind of wave clear and have set themselves up for an extremely rough time if they get behind. Dark Passage must go even or win lanes to have any hope with their team comp.

Game Notes -

Ezreal Braum get some very early damage on Corki. Braum takes way too much damage from Janna in lane though, preventing them from being able to fight at level 2.

Zed hits level 2 first, and all-ins Fizz, giving him a big lead. Zed poke after that keeps him ahead despite Fizz having 5 HP pots.

Ezreal/Braum go in at level 3 but are unable to get the stun proc onto Corki. Need to wait till an Ezreal shift will guarantee the proc.

Ryze gets too close to tower against Alistar, gets flash->pulverize->headbutt into tower right as Khazix ganks, dies.

Khazix wards after hopping over, so he can see Lee Sin Q.

DP's bot lane attempts to go all-in, at even HP. Without getting poke or an early stun proc onto Corki, the fight goes in SSW's favor.

Khazix applies pressure top, and once Alistar is 6, a catch leads to an easy tower dive. And a kill. This does cost SSW the early dragon, as it was timed with SSW's bot lane backing, giving DP an easy dragon. Focuses the gold up top and on jungle.

SSW mid and bot lane constantly harass and apply pressure, creating a huge gap in experience and gold between the two lanes. At this point, the game is essentially over. Dark Passage have lost any and all pressure unless they can survive until the 45-55 minute mark, however with a lack of wave clear, it is highly unlikely that they can survive until then.

Corki/Janna reach level 6 first and bully DP's bot lane, pushing them out and keeping them low on experience and farm.

Fizz tries to catch Khazix in the jungle, but uses his E. Zed who is pushing mid to the turret gets an easy shadow over the wall into ultimate which Fizz can no longer dodge and dies.

Fizz escapes a great tower dive in mid lane and transitions it into a bait and counter-engage with Lee Sin vs Khazix/Zed. A great play that only barely does not work out. Janna comes in and saves Khazix with shield and ultimate at the very last second. If the mid lane had gone more even, Fizz would have had the damage to kill Khazix before this could have occurred. Samsung collapses onto this fight, netting them 3 kills for 0.

Alistar 1v1 's Ryze, roaming from the mid fight back up top as Ryze is pushing tower. With the positioning advantage, and the mid game spike of sheen/phage, he is able to easily secure the kill against Ryze who has very little combat stats at the moment. This nets Alistar his Trinity Force and allows him to completely bully Ryze.

Dark Passage attempt a dragon to catch back up, however they get pincered by SSW who are vastly ahead right now and end up getting aced and losing dragon.

Without any wave clear and with SSW's lead and dive potential with Alistar, they will push down towers quickly and look for the win.

End Game Notes -

Not too much to say. Dark Passage got outplayed by Samsung White in the laning phase. Lacking any kind of mid game comeback mechanic, Dark Passage then bleed kills and turrets to Samsung White.

Note that even in this match, Samsung White is still creating solid and superior vision control.

What Dark Passage needed to do -

Dark Passage should have picked a solid mid game 5v5 team composition and very early on moved into a death ball/siege composition. Unfortunately for Dark Passage, they are outmatched in individual skill. Their best hope would be to quickly transition out of the laning phase and into team-fights and pushes with a superior team fight composition. Something with long range, wave clear, and disengage.

Mid -
Try to get your harassment in at level 1, Orianna has strong auto attacks and the ball zone/positioning is crucial against any melee champion at level 1. Gets a little trickier at level 3 when Talon has his full combo and will be able to jump in on you, do damage, and move out. Try to farm with your ball, and keep your distance, but don't sacrifice creeps for it. When talon leaps in, do not immediately recall the ball for the shield. Try to judge if Talon is going to try to fight, or just burst and run. If he chooses to fight, then recall the ball, otherwise auto attack Talon as he runs and use Command Attack and Dissonance as he is running away from you and towards your ball (since the ball should be somewhere in the lane at this point, by not using Command Protect for the shield there is less time for Talon to react and dodge your offensive ball movements). Alternately you can leash the ball as Talon goes in allowing you to use Protect without losing cast time due to ball movement. At level 6 this changes though and you will want to Protect instantly to survive Talon's large burst. Outside of that, farm like crazy and ward to watch his roam paths, be very careful when roaming yourself to follow Talon lest he turn around and kill you.

Bot -
Jinx can out-range Vayne pretty well from early on. Getting good rocket harassment is essential to winning this lane, however you will want to avoid any level 1 fights as Jinx is in a way without an ability at level 1. Janna however will make this tough, a rocket poke that is easily read will be countered by Janna shield into a Vayne tumble shot at Jinx or Thresh. The best scenario would be hitting a hook at level 1 and getting a free rocket or two (do not go in on the hook), and continuing from there. Otherwise Flay and getting Janna to use her shield on herself will allow Jinx to pot shot Vayne. Alternately at level 2/3 with Zap, Jinx can try to hit Janna (will probably be easier) and get her to shield herself, then take shots at Vayne with rockets. The lane needs to be won by poke and pressure into the turret. An all-in fight will result in Vayne/Janna winning unless they are significantly lower HP.

Jungle -
Fairly even match-up against Lee Sin. Should farm primarily and be ready to counter-engage Lee Sin if he ganks. The best gank opportunities will be in mid and bottom lane. Thresh hook + lantern and Jinx snare would equal a dead Janna, possibly even Vayne instead. In mid waiting for Talon to jump on Orianna at the level 3+ stage could result in a good gank, burning a flash or even getting a kill. Top lane will be a bit harder, even though Alistar has good CC. Need enough room to keep slows on Ryze so Alistar can catch up if Ryze hits his Rune Prison before Alistar can engage.

Lane Match-ups – Samsung White

Top -
Ryze should have a very easy time against Alistar.

Mid -
Talon should have control of this lane once he reaches level 3. His combo can be used very easily against Orianna and while it will be difficult to kill her, he can win trades and put her on the defensive. The key will be dodging the offensive ball movement as he retreats from his combo. Once level 6 comes around, Talon can simply burst Orianna, effectively pushing her out of lane or to her turret, though not killing her. This will give his team a huge advantage if they want to push an objective or if Talon wants to roam. Orianna will be unable to follow or fight.

Bot -
Should be a winning match-up. The key to winning is to time Janna shield with Vayne tumble to hit Jinx when she tries to rocket harass. Jinx/Thresh should not win an all-in in this match-up so the only worry is the harassment that they can provide. As long as Janna/Vayne stay healthy, the lane should start to turn in their favor around level 3-4.

Jungle -
Not much to say, fairly even match-up against Khazix. Should mostly farm, try to make plays happen up top against Alistar at the level 3-4 mark. Potentially go bot by dashing over the dragon wall to avoid wards. Tempest slow and Janna tornado may be enough time to allow Vayne to setup her stun.

Team Composition/Strategy – Dark Passage

*Win Condition – Play solidly in lane, allowing Jinx to get her first item or item and a half. Transition to mid game objective control, mainly through tower siege. Work your way around the map and take out as many turrets as you can to gain the lead before Vayne/Talon/Ryze can pick up speed.

This team composition is primarily just comfort picks for Dark Passage. The team has a very loose synergy with Alistar delivery system for Orianna ball, followed by reset clean-up from Khazix and Jinx. The biggest two problems is that Talon will melt Jinx and Vayne will deal plenty of damage to Alistar with her true damage. If SSW make a good engage, there is little DP can do about it. The best option is for DP to tower siege, using their superior range, poke, and wave clear to keep the pressure on the tower objectives.

Team Composition/Strategy – SSW

*Win Condition – Outplay Dark Passage and win lanes, get kills, continue to get picks and just snowball the lead.

This team has almost no synergy. SSW has picked a flashy team full of damage simply because they believe they are that much better than Dark Passage. They have picked strong lanes against and honestly have come out with the better match-up in every lane. Samsung have set themselves up, not to have a team play, but more of an individual win lane play-style.

Game Notes -

Janna harasses Thresh with shield. When Jinx goes to poke with rockets, Janna shields Vayne and Vayne tumble pokes, heavily winning the trade. This comes back to bite Jinx in the rear when both sides get level 2 and Vayne/Janna go all-in. Jinx is forced to back off earlier than Vayne, since she started with 100-200 hp less at the level 2 fight.

Alistar TP's bot to deny the dive, then cancels it to stay top after SSW disengages the dive.

Talon all-ins Orianna as soon as he hit's 6, taking more than half her HP. Continues to do so throughout the lane, putting huge pressure onto Orianna. Eventually earns SSW dragon.

Alistar makes a great flash headbutt, knocking Ryze into turret. If he wasn't so low could have gotten a kill.

Great lantern save onto Jinx after Lee sin ultimate (Lee should have tried for Thresh).

Ryze TP pincers Orianna.

Vayne heads top to fight Alistar after killing the bot lane turret. Vayne can easily bully and beat out Alistar and will take the turret much faster than Ryze would.

SSW suffocate Dark Passage through lane dominance and jungle objective bullying.

SSW start to look for kills. Talon hunts Jinx while the rest of the team bully towers and jungle, diving to get kills.

Ryze TP flanks, Ace happens.

Janna makes a great save on Vayne, Vayne gets a Pentakill. Surrender comes in.

End Game Notes -

Not a lot to say here, Dark Passage got beat by superior lanes, and super players. The entire game was fought either in lanes or in small skirmishes and not once did a teamfight come into play. Samsung rolled their lane dominance into jungle objective control and tower bullying.

What Dark Passage Needed to Do -

Primarily I'd say pick better lane match-ups. Something that can go heavily all-in or allow them to sit back and farm. Dark Passage's individual skill is much less than SSW so I would also like to see a lane swap perhaps, especially with Jinx, and go for a super fast tower push, and then transition very quickly into a roving team play with a team comp that would out perform the lane focus of SSW's team.
