League of Legends Worlds Analysis, Quarterfinals - SHR vs. EDG Game #5

Star Horn Royal Club vs. Edward Gaming Game #5

Picks
1. Ryze 2. Twitch
3. Jarvan 2. Khazix
3. Orianna 4. Rumble
5. Tristana 4. Thresh
5. Janna 6. Syndra

Lane Match-ups – Star Horn Royal Club

Top -
Ryze is a lot stronger than Rumble early on and should look to abuse this fact. Constant harassment will put Rumble behind and as long as Ryze is able to dodge harpoons, should be able to do so without fear of retaliation. At level 6 he must be aware of Rumble's all-in power and respect it. Beware of ganks from Elise.

Mid -
Orianna cannot fight Syndra in an all-in, but will be able to easily farm and keep Syndra in lane, or against her tower. With the protection of the ball, she will also be able to farm jungle camps while Syndra is occupied. In all-in engagements, while Orianna will lose and be pushed back, it is unlikely that Syndra will be able to kill her, only bring her low. As long as Orianna is wary of ganks and does not take poke from Syndra, she will scale into her strong mid-late game team fighting.

Bot -
I feel like this is a fairly even lane. Both are pretty bad at harassment early on and want to farm. Tristana/Janna can get off a few pot shots with her shield, but Tristana has no AD ratios to make real use of the shield. Janna shield can block Twitch damage, and the trades should go even. Thresh hooks can make a difference, but a well placed Janna Tornado and shield will be able to stop anything major. All in all, a fairly even lane that will be defensive for both.

Jungle -
Jarvan can have some strong gank potential against Rumble up in the top lane and should look to make use of it early. The double CC and the slows should be enough to take him down. Once level 6 comes into play, Jarvan should be looking to either gank Twitch, (hopefully having already burned his flash) or gank for Orianna against Syndra, providing the ball delivery and lacking Syndra up.

Lane Match-ups – Edward Gaming

Top -
Rumble has a rough time against Ryze as Ryze is able to easily harass him. Rumble must wait until level 2/3 before he can even attempt to fight back. Must land harpoon and slow Ryze to keep him in Flamespitter range if he tries to snare Rumble. A hard lane for Rumble, he will need to just survive until level 6 and his power-spike before trying to fight Ryze.

Mid -
Syndra has a pretty easy time against Orianna. She has much higher kill potential, especially at 6, and has decent wave clear. Though Orianna will push the wave into Syndra faster, Orianna cannot go all-in against Syndra unless ahead. Syndra stun + burst will deter Orianna from using her higher sustained damage. Just needs to make sure she does not get out-farmed.

Bot -
A pretty even lane, both just want to farm and maybe get off some harassment. Twitch will lose alone, but not by much, and if Thresh can get in for a hook for flay, will come out on top. Both sides will only come out on top in trades by a little bit. Mostly this will just be farming, and looking for an opportunity to capitalize on a misplay of the other duo. At 6, Thresh can try to bait a fight while Twitch gets into position to attack Tristana, needs to be aware of the knock-back though.

Jungle -
Khazix should look to farm and try to get a vision on Jarvan early, especially for the top lane to protect Rumble from a gank. A gank with Thresh lantern is also a possibility, however Tristana and Janna should be able to get away from it. Once 6, look to help Syndra in middle against Orianna, providing the extra damage necessary to secure the kill.

Team Composition/Strategy – Star Horn Royal Club

*Win Condition – Scale into the late-game and win with 3 really strong late-game champions.

Even though SHR have picked up a late-game team composition, they have strength in the mid-game with Jarvan and Orianna and to a lesser extent Ryze and Janna. Tristana will be the weakest link early, however she will grow into her hyper carry status. Janna and Orianna are going to be very strong at buffing Tristana for the mid-game as well. All the lanes for SHR, while they won't outright win, they won't outright lose either and SHR should be able to take this into the mid-game and the late-game and win with their superior team-fighting ability, not as a composition but as a team.

Team Composition/Strategy – Edward Gaming

*Win Condition – Get picks in the mid-game with Twitch/Thresh/Syndra and turn that into a lead. Use Rumble to disrupt the team-fight ability of SHR. Beat SHR before they can out-scale EDG.

EDG are going to need to find a window of opportunity to get picks in the early-mid and mid-game. Thresh/Syndra/Twitch are good at this, however it does require SHR to make position mistakes. EDG cannot straight up fight SHR in a 5v5 without a lead. It is up to EDG to generate a lead if they want to win. The lane in the most danger will be Rumble and EDG should at least make sure he can reach level 6 without much delay. Once there, Rumble should be strong enough to contribute and the attention should turn to getting picks with Syndra somewhere. This match-up is going to be hard for EDG, they are the ones that have to make plays and they are going to be hard against SHR. If they can get a lead, they can keep SHR separated by pushing multiple lanes and looking for picks in the rotations.

Game Notes -

EDG let SHR get a few picks they should not, particularly the Ryze and Orianna. This may really bite them in the rear in this all important final match.

Tristana gets caught out by Thresh and Twitch at level 1 and is forced to pick up his Rocket Jump and burn Flash to escape. He does make a great escape choice by escaping up the river, farther away from Twitch, rather than towards the lane which might have got him killed.

The Tristana catch forces SHR to move to the 2v1 lanes, but EDG does not read this and gives a slight advantage to SHR.

EDG trade top turret for dragon very early. This, I think is actually in benefit for SHR, as they want to move back to the 2v2 lane after Tristana's weak period from the level 1 is over, and because this does give Ryze a slight advantage in the top. I do not like this trade in most situations, as the gold difference is very little but the map play is huge. In this match-up I like it even less. EDG have to make the plays and EDG have to get they picks. They are the ones who need to open up the map and find ways to force rotational mistakes from SHR.

Thresh messes up his flash and flays forward instead of back. This makes him miss Tristana and SHR can escape the attempted gank.

EDG draw First Blood in middle. Orianna tries to bait Syndra in, but Khazix is there before Jarvan and the burst from Syndra/Khazix is able to kill her. A slight misplay when trying to make a play of their own. EDG are able to take dragon as well.

EDG try to force a play on bot lane with TP, but earns nothing. Thresh hooks too soon after flay, not even waiting to see if flay would create the situation they wanted, and then there was nothing for EDG to catch with or force a flash out of.

A great long gank and equalizer earns EDG a kill on top lane. A small lead has come in for EDG, however they have not shut down SHR at all, just kept themselves slightly ahead. Game is still going in SHR's favor, as long as they can realize this.

SHR get their first turret when the duo lane takes the bot turret alone.

The game is so slow, that its almost hard to realize how late it is and what items players have.

The first team fight of the game looks to happen at dragon. Posturing goes on for awhile, but Orianna is seemingly out alone and Twitch goes to make the pick. However the bait is strong and a hero pink ward allows Orianna to completely stop Twitch. SHR are able to then take a second kill, dragon and the mid turret. However they are a little slow on the turret kill and Rumble is able to get his TP off. EDG get 2 kills and take the mid turrets, both T1 and T2. The whole situation ends up with 2 for 2 in kills, 1 dragon and 1 turret to SHR, and 2 turrets to EDG.

SHR keeping the game even right now only works towards their favor. If they can keep this up for 12 more minutes, they should have the game turn to them completely.

A crazy fight top starts when Twitch gets caught out but he lives. EDG are able to the kill on Jarvan and a lot of damage onto SHR, but Thresh goes too deep and dies, then the fight turns with some very aggressive but very good play by Tristana and her team backing her up. Fight goes 4 for 2 in SHR's favor. Syndra tries for a catch, but misses her stun and dies, another kill to Tristana, but as Tristana/Janna try to escape, Rumble TP's to block them they get the kill onto Tristana so in the end, 5 for 3 in SHR's favor, a great trade for SHR, especially with the 3 kills onto Tristana.

EDG catch Jarvan out, but SHR is able to escape. EDG burn important ultimates for this and get nothing. When Jarvan heals, SHR are able to take dragon.

Game slows down again for awhile and the Baron dance begins. SHR are in complete control of the game now though, and its up to them to win or lose.

SHR force the TP burn from Rumble.

EDG get a pick onto Tristana in the mid lane, just barely catching out and killing her, but they do get her. EDG bait the Baron, and get a good catch, but a great Ryze flash away from EDG, into the Baron pit, and onto Twitch gets him the kill for his life, but does prevent EDG from being able to start Baron after.

Another good pick onto Jarvan gets him really low, and an Equalizer almost kills him, but Janna saves Jarvan with her ultimate. This does mean SHR have the advantage to push with 2 ultimates down on EDG's side. SHR push and take EDG's T2 mid turret and then bait Baron. SHR get a kill onto Rumble and start Baron. A very bold play but Rumble's ultimate is gone and Twitch's is still down. SHR are able to get the Baron before EDG can commit to the fight. SHR are able to take the top T2 as well. This is the final nail in the coffin for EDG, or at least should be. SHR have Baron, a solid gold lead, and the better 5v5 composition and have scaled into the late-game.

SHR start to push the bottom lane, the best lane to push when you have Baron and nothing else is already open.

SHR are able to force open the bot lane, EDG cannot really fight. SHR are able to get the inhibitor and then get a catch, and then end the game.

Item Notes -

Where is the Locket, again......

End Game Notes -

SHR recuperate their emotions and are able to play a steady game and deny EDG the win and the early-game.

EDG fall off a bit of their deny Ryze or Orianna and it really hurts them.

This match was the closest one yet however, going close meant that SHR was going to win eventually.

What Edward Gaming should have done -

I feel that, this game was lost in champion select. SHR got Ryze, something that Cola really needed to get, and then gave away Orianna instead of picking it before SHR could. EDG let SHR get a very solid composition that could survive and stay strong through the early and mid-game and then scale into the late-game. I would have also loved to have seen Corki picked up instead of Twitch. This would have given EDG that little bit of oomph that they needed to break through the defenses of SHR in the mid-game and turn that into a win. EDG let SHR really get a composition they shine at, and did not bring enough hammers to break it down before it got truly strong.

In the game, I can't say that EDG did much wrong. They got an early lead, though small, and they played it well. They needed to make a few risky plays to get the lead they had to get to win, however they did not work out and unfortunately for EDG they lead to SHR taking the lead and strolling to the win from there.

One of the only changes I would have made, in game, is the initial dragon for turret trade. I would have much rather seen EDG take a turret as well and open up the map so that they could find the picks that they needed.

Picks
1. Ryze 2. Thresh
3. Khazix 2. Lee Sin
3. Lucian 4. Irelia
5. Orianna 4. Vayne
5. Braum 6. Fizz

Lane Match-ups – Edward Gaming

Top -
Ryze can bully Irelia, though it might not be so wise. With Irelia lower than Ryze, it will put Ryze at risk to be ganked easily by Rengar. Harassment should only be done when he knows that Rengar is on the other side of the map and must be wary anytime his presence is not accounted for. Be especially mindful of low hp ranged creeps and the ability of Irelia to double gap close in those situations. If possible, try to keep the wave slightly on DP's side of the river, giving more time to chase Irelia in a gank, since she has built in tenacity to deal with Pantheon and Ryze CC, and because Ryze will need a short escape route if he gets ganked.

Mid -
Orianna will have the pressure in this match-up for the first 2 levels, able to really put the pressure onto Fizz and deny him farm. Once level 3 hits, things will be tougher for Orianna, as Fizz can harass and hop out. Just as against Yasuo, Orianna will need to keep the ball close in order to guarantee safety and return damage against Fizz. Barrier will almost be essential for surviving level 6-8 against Fizz's all-ins. Hang back and farm with your ball when you have no knowledge of Khazix, and stay close to your ball and harass Fizz when Khazix is no where near. In the end, Orianna should be able to out-farm Fizz and win the lane that way.

Bot -
Lucian/Braum is an extremely strong lane, and much stronger than Vayne/Thresh. Easy to proc Braum passives and much higher harassment than Vayne. Should find this lane and stick to it the whole game. Will win from level 1 on and should be bullying the whole game long.

Jungle -
Khazix once again, will want to look to farm. A gank middle, when Fizz tries to go in, while net some great success, but does require Fizz to try to harass Orianna. In the top lane, Khazix can help turn the lane by getting Ryze ahead before Irelia reaches her power-spike. It will only delay it, but delaying Irelia in this match will be huge, as she is the mid-game power of SHR's team. Outside of focusing top and protecting middle, Khazix should just look to scale and get his CS in the jungle.

Lane Match-ups – Star Horn Royal Club

Top -
Irelia will get bullied by Ryze early and will be reduced to surviving and farming. It will be rough for a while, but being lower than Ryze will keep his kill potential almost non-existent during the low levels, as well as providing Irelia with an easy way to set up a gank through the long duration of her stun. Once Irelia reaches and 6 and picks up a Sheen, she will have more control over the lane than Ryze. Her all-in onto Ryze will be superior while Ryze is scaling up with his tear/catalyst. Every opportunity after this point should be used to push Ryze out of lane and potentially kill him. Jungle with Khazix will be extremely potent and should be a priority.

Mid -
Fizz is going to have a hard time against Orianna, getting bullied early, and having trades after level 3 that will only go even or in Orianna's favor. However, if Orianna's ball is ever far away from her, that gives Fizz the opportunity to get in some free harass and pole hop away before the ball can move back to her or move to hit him. Look for opportunities to all-in at level 6, saving pole hop to dodge Orianna's ultimate. Getting this opportunity will be difficult, but rewarding. Ganks onto top or bottom will yield more success, but will sacrifice a lot of cs and tower damage.

Bot -
Vayne/Thresh have to find the 2v1. They are going to be in a very weak position if they try to fight the 2v2. Lucian can easily bully Vayne, and combined with Braum the stun passive is that much more likely to go off. Thresh can attempt to block/harass, but he is going to be in the same boat of getting stunned that Vayne is. Get the 2v1, SHR's lane is going to need it.

Jungle -
Lee Sin should put his focus on top lane, getting Irelia strong and into the mid-game, as she will need to be SHR's centerpiece in the mid-game. Once Lee Sin hits 6, he can gank Orianna and attempt to make a solid play with Fizz, who should have the damage to kill her.

Team Composition/Strategy – Edward Gaming

*Win Condition – I like what Jatt said. Team-fight bulldozer. EDG have a strong 5v5 fight, especially against SHR's team.

EDG really just have to get decently strong, essentially not lose the early-game and move into 5v5 fights. SHR's team is all about the small skirmishes and the 1v1. If EDG bring the team-fight to SHR and avoid the small fights and the movement abilities of SHR, then EDG should be able to bulldoze over SHR's composition. EDG just need to move quickly to the team-fights after the laning phase and keep something of a death-ball fight style.

Team Composition/Strategy – Star Horn Royal Club

*Win Condition – I'm going to beat you 1v1.

There is not too much else to say about this. The Fizz pick and the Vayne pick really are making this statement. SHR are showing a bit of stubbornness, saying, we can beat you 1v1, and they aren't even picked into lane bully roles. This is just a bit of not arrogance, but Grrrrrrr! about losing the last match. SHR really have to win or go even in the lanes and then just, keep EDG from grouping up or find fights where SHR have the greater numbers. SHR cannot fight a 5v5 unless far ahead, as they just can't go into EDG's death-ball and win. SHR are just going to have to win this match-up purely on skill.

Game Notes -

EDG's duo lane are show a slight bit of bad timing on the passives of Lucian and Braum.

Irelia takes a lot of damage from Ryze early, and EDG are able to dive her for First Blood.

Lee Sin goes in for a low level Q doing little damage to Ryze but takes a ton himself. If EDG had flashes, they probably could have killed him.

Ryze gets an early Glacial Shroud. I am a huge fan of Ryze grabbing a defensive item against aggressive top laners even though it delays his Rod of Ages. Love this pickup against Irelia.

Every lane is losing for SHR right now, even if its just slightly in bot and mid.

Another gank, the same one, onto Irelia nets another kill top, Lee Sin jumps in but an essential flash from Khazix gets him away before Lee Sin can ultimate. Because of this Lee Sin has to chase instead of escape and Khazix/Lee Sin kill each other.

EDG are drawing out the laning phase, knowing that they are stronger in the lanes early, and that the longer they can draw it out, the stronger their 5v5 will be after.

EDG mess up their back timing, and SHR take a free dragon with no response from EDG.

EDG dive too deep in an attempt to kill Fizz, but Lee Sin misses his Q and EDG are able to get back out. EDG take mid and bottom turret because of this. Turrets are now 3-0 in favor of EDG and have come out of the lanes behind.

Khazix runs into Fizz but EDG is there, Fizz dies but gets the kill. With Vayne bottom, EDG take 3 kills for 1 and the mid T2 turret as SHR get their first turret on bot lane. We see the EDG bulldozer in action.

Silly EDG, Khazix chases Fizz after getting hit by ultimate and when low. Khazix dies in a 3v1 as Fizz gets a kill he should not have. A gank top earns SHR a kill on Ryze. Lucian pushes bottom however and is able to take the T2 turret.

EDG move their bulldozer to the top T2 turret and take it, even getting Lee Sin as he tries to make a play. EDG now have 6 turrets to 1.

EDG move to dragon and take it for free. SHR try to make a fight after, but they are so split-up. And EDG get a dive kill onto Vayne, who is behind EDG and clean up 2 more kills after. EDG now move to baron, take it without contest, and catch Fizz for another kill.

The bulldozer now move to the mid inhibitor and they flatten it. EDG then play around at SHR's Nexus instead of just killing it. They do take both Nexus turrets and a few kills but are pushed off. EDG just need to shop, heal, and drive their way through mid.

EDG do decide to take a less direct approach and push SHR's bottom inhibitor turret and take it and move into the Nexus, playing around for kills again. This time they do end the game though.

Item Notes -

Ryze gets an early Glacial Shroud. I am a huge fan of Ryze grabbing a defensive item against aggressive top laners even though it delays his Rod of Ages. Love this pickup against Irelia.

End Game Notes -

Oops. - Star Horn Royal Club

This was just, really SHR getting butt hurt about their previous loss and being indignant about it. They wanted to just RAWR I'm better than you, but they really got shutdown by their awful team composition.

Great job EDG, once again you take the early-game and you use your team composition the best out of any game, granted it was a composition that could just bulldoze over SHR.

What Star Horn Royal Club should have done -

Not let their emotions dictate their champion select. It was really just an, I can do this its all about me, game mindset. SHR should have never built such a selfish me competition.

Going forward into the last game, SHR need to take a deep breath and reset their emotions. Talk about what is going wrong (after the deep breath and not before) and then pick a TEAM composition in the next game, not one that is all about Uzi or all about mid or all about individual play. SHR need to reset as a team.

In the next match, its probably time to for SHR to ban Lucian out, ban Ryze out or pick him. EDG have been constantly winning the early-game, but losing out to the team-fight of SHR. Let's put EDG onto some weaker early-game champions while SHR picks lanes that can bully, hold their own, and be team-fight strong in the mid-game. Make a composition where everyone can feel they can contribute and contribute early, rather than be supportive.

As long as Orianna is wary of ganks and does not take poke from Syndra, she will scale into her strong mid-late game team fighting.

Bot -
Another weaker lane for SHR, this time though there is some CC protection and sustain, though less trade potential. Should look for the 2v1 and let Nami roam/help the top lane and let Twitch get an earlier level 6 from the solo experience. If the 2v2 lane happens, then they need to be safe and farm, trying not to lose the lane too badly. Thresh hooks onto Nami will be very dangerous, but if Twitch is hooked, then Nami is able to offer some protection by slowing and attempting to stun Lucian.

Jungle -
Lee Sin is going to have to work hard to keep up with Evelyn, but this is everyone versus Evelyn. Early invade to try to catch and kill her at one of her small camps can be huge, and put her behind. As the match-up progresses, Lee Sin should get his Sight Stone early and get the wards into Evelyn's camps. For ganks, the best is once again going to be with Rumble, against Ryze.

Lane Match-ups – Edward Gaming

Top -
Ryze is a lot stronger than Rumble early on and should look to abuse this fact. Constant harassment will put Rumble behind and as long as Ryze is able to dodge harpoons, should be able to do so without fear of retaliation. Though Orianna will push the wave into Syndra faster, Orianna cannot go all-in against Syndra unless ahead. Syndra stun + burst will deter Orianna from using her higher sustained damage. Just needs to make sure she does not get out-farmed.

Bot -
Lucian/Thresh is much stronger, and though this time around SHR has sustain, they have a weaker trade/all-in potential and Lucian should feel even more free to dominate and bully this lane. Lucian should save his dash for Nami ultimate/bubble, and just be close enough for when Thresh hits a hook or flay. Alternately, Lucian can dash forward and then lantern away from Nami bubble if Thresh is on the ball. Bully the lane, keep SHR's pushed back and low.

Jungle -
Oh Evelyn how we hate you. Eve should just look to farm and gank pushed lanes. She has such an easy time getting in, that whenever a lane is pushed into EDG's towers, she should be looking for the gank opportunity. Rumble will make the easiest target and when level 6 comes into play for Syndra, Evelyn can provide that extra damage to guarantee the kill on Orianna.

Team Composition/Strategy – Star Horn Royal Club

*Win Condition – 5v5 team-fight and get solid AoE damage down with their ultimates. Get picks with Twitch.

SHR's team composition is pretty simple here, but will require a great amount of skill and positioning prowess. SHR want to 5v5 team-fight in the mid-game and the late-game to utilize their strong AoE ultimate damage. Orianna pulling EDG together for Rumble and Twitch to unload their damage onto. That's the nutshell of SHR's team. Get to dragon, win fights. When dragon is down, try to find picks with Lee Sin and Twitch. Wait for the next dragon. Fight back if EDG try to 5v5. Same as the last game, but this time SHR must watch out for EDG getting picks with Eve/Thresh/Syndra and remember that Twitch is more vulnerable to burst without Janna.

Team Composition/Strategy – Edward Gaming

*Win Condition – Win lane, win game. Use Eve to get lanes rolling and picks with Syndra and Thresh later on. Get flanks for the 5v5 to reduce the Rumble damage.

EDG once again have an early-game focused team, but it has been working out for them until they mess it up. This time, they have great map control with Evelyn early on, putting pressure on all the lanes just by being Evelyn, and they have strong kill potential without having to send someone (Zed) all in in the form of Syndra. During the mid-game especially and throughout they will have strong pick potential with the (my favorite amount for pick comps) 3 potential hard CC's of Syndra/Ryze/Thresh. EDG just need to get a lead early, and turn that in map rotations and picks. In 5v5 fights, Syndra can provide strong CC and Evelyn can flank, disrupting SHR and hopefully messing with their AoE ultimate combo.

Game Notes -

EDG take a very early dragon this time, bringing in 4 instead of 3 and having Syndra pushed to provide a warning system.

Lanes move to top/support vs. ADC. Nami gets ganked, 3v1 but is able to escape without having to burn any Summoners.

Lanes move once again to Standard Lanes.

Lee Sin moves to gank top and it looks good, but the damage is just slightly too low as Evelyn comes in for the counter-gank and First Blood + 1 goes to EDG.

SHR having pushed bottom out when Lucian backed, moves to gank mid. Syndra backing in the middle of the lane gets her killed and a kill onto Twitch.

As SHR's duo moves back to lane, EDG catch them out in the tri-bush and get a kill on Nami.

EDG are once again ahead in the early-game and ahead with a solid 2.5k lead. Ryze has a large lead, and should be able to destroy Rumble now and as I type this, Evelyn shows up top and Rumble dies again.

Note the very early Sorcerer Boots that allow Ryze to bully and dominate Rumble.

A great bubble on Twitch's 6 nets SHR a kill on the bottom lane, as Lucian is afraid to fight after having just seen Lee Sin. Smartly too, since Lee Sin shows back up and almost kills Lucian anyways.
SHR are a bit low now, and Syndra/Evelyn collapse bottom and clean up 2 kills. EDG then turn for a very dangerous dragon. Orianna and Lee Sin to attempt to stop it, SHR steal the dragon but Orianna dies. Total is 3 for 1 in favor of EDG but SHR get the dragon.

A double gank attempt on the bot lane ends up with a 1 for 1 trade on kills and turret. SHR does pull the TP from Ryze though, allowing Rumble to get some farm.

EDG setup a great pick as Orianna comes back from getting blue, Thresh and Syndra kill her. The Flash from Syndra was way unnecessary though. Syndra is able to get the turret after.

SHR are still pressuring bot lane with Lee Sin, but EDG have started to play it safer and take resources in other lanes.

Rumble is super shutdown this match.

Lucian pushes way too deep and gets caught, by 4 members of SHR and they wait to give the kill to Twitch. Lucian was pushing too hard w/o the other lanes pushing to take advantage.

SHR attempt dragon, and they do need the gold and to force something, but they are so far behind and Rumble is too weak for his ultimate to make a big difference, he is only level 9. EDG get a great flank and pincer and it pulls SHR off dragon and traps them, without their ultimates, on EDG's side of the map. EDG now can look for picks, while Ryze, at full HP, prevents SHR from retreating. EDG end up getting the ACE for 0 and then take dragon.

EDG start to pressure top T2 and Baron. Lee Sin is able to get a flank and SHR get a kill on Thresh, but are so far behind that EDG charge through and get a trade kill on Nami, and then take the T2 top turret. SHR burned all of their ultimates, but EDG only burned Lucian ultimate.

EDG stick around the same area, picking off Rumble. When Evelyn backs, SHR make a strong play with Twitch stealth and get 2 kills for 1. They then chase Lucian but Orianna loses the chase by speeding up Twitch instead of herself. Was a great play for SHR to make from behind.

EDG catch Twitch and dive a bit too deep lining up for SHR's AoE and the fight goes 3 for 2 in SHR's favor, even though far behind.

EDG are still far enough ahead that the one lost team-fight does not matter, they come back and take dragon for free.

EDG should have been pressuring Baron/mid this whole time. Take the Baron vision and pressure, then wait for SHR to move in and get picked by Syndra/Thresh/Ryze. They really should have and need to use this to draw SHR out into a bad spot.

Lee Sin gets caught by Thresh, and Twitch blocks off Lucian ultimate damage to save Lee Sin, but gets caught and killed by Syndra.

EDG now have a 5v4, with the jungler at almost no HP. They can turn and take Baron for free, however they push through mid, take the mid T2 and start to hit the inhibitor turret, however EDG dive, get in a bad spot with Orianna ultimate and the tower wreaks havoc as EDG fight in SHR's base. EDG get ACED and only get 2 kills. EDG turned a free baron into a 2 for 5.

SHR are still behind by 9k gold though. EDG can still control the game and they still have tons of pick potential and the ability to control Baron, if they would finally do it.

Some crazy Baron movements end up with EDG and SHR switching sides. EDG has a huge wave incoming top and they will move to it after Nami's ultimate misses EDG. EDG pressure the top inhibitor turret. SHR try to make an engage, but they end up losing the fight, giving up 4 kills to only get 2. EDG are able to take the top inhibitor and the fifth kill onto Nami for the delayed ACE.

Syndra and Ryze back off from their Recall bush after seeing Twitch, even though Twitch backs off. This saves both of their lives.

EDG try to flank SHR, but SHR disengage but do end up on SHR's side of the base. SHR have to recall, as super minions take both their Nexus turrets and EDG finally take Baron.

SHR push bottom with no Nexus turrets??????????????

EDG go to take the top inhibitor when it respawns, but Lucian walks into the Orianna ball, gets hit by Shock-Wave, and then Lee Sin knocks him back into SHR's team. SHR win the fight, again, when EDG should not be letting this happen.

The crazy part is, the game hasn't hit 40 minutes yet. So much fighting has happened, but EDG still hold a huge gold lead. But in another 10 minutes gold lead won't exist due to 5/6 items.

Another top inhibitor fight leads to SHR chasing EDG far, and the fight goes super close, but Orianna completely misses her Shock-Wave, trying to hit 4 people. EDG take 4 for 1 and then win the game.

Item Notes –

I would have really liked to have seen Nami pick up Aegis instead of finishing her T2, especially her T3 gold item and her Mobility boots. Really needed the Aegis or Mikael's for Twitch against Syndra and Ryze.

Where is the Locket from either team?!?

End Game Notes -

EDG again win the early-game and play the mid-game better, generating a huge huge lead. They do not however play the late-mid game, particularly the Baron bait/dance (never doing it).

Even though the fights sometimes go in SHR's favor, they can never get anything off of it and EDG are able to constantly take dragons and occasionally turrets which keeps their gold lead.

EDG can solidify their win ability better by some better baiting/baron control. EDG seem to lose how their team compositions shine as the game heads to the late-mid point.

EDG are over focusing Uzi and completely ignoring Corn's Orianna.

What Star Horn Royal Club should have done -

They really needed to respect the Evelyn more. Evelyn provided so much pressure and so much dominance this map as well as messing with SHR's composition by her flanking power. Rumble also got so denied that he almost might not have been in the game. SHR lost this match early and hard. Especially at that dragon fight that SHR had no reason to be fighting, especially in that position and with that Rumble ultimate being used as a slow down and a distraction. Was a very bad play by SHR and was the nail in the coffin.

Even before that, SHR didn't respect the pick potential of Syndra/Thresh/Ryze either.

Going forward, SHR should really move to a strong early-game team as they are highly outplaying EDG in everything but the start.. Switching up bans, add in Evelyn or a Syndra instead of the Zilean.

Lane Match-ups – Edward Gaming

Top -
Ryze is a lot stronger than Rumble early on and should look to abuse this fact. Constant harassment will put Rumble behind and as long as Ryze is able to dodge harpoons, should be able to do so without fear of retaliation. At level 6 he must be aware of Rumble's all-in power and respect it. Beware of ganks from Elise.

Mid -
Zed has a skill match-up against Orianna in the mid-lane, though I'd give the match-up a slight edge to Orianna. Zed is going to have to dodge Orianna's ball movements while weaving in his own harassment. He must also be aware of the auto attacks, as Orianna's does end up adding up. Before 6, focus should be on keeping up in farm, and potentially going for a trade/all-in if Zed can get Orianna to send her ball far from her. Once 6 is reached, Zed has more potential for the all-in. After using his ultimate, it may be wise for him to toss his shadow behind Orianna, dashing back to his R shadow when she tries to ultimate, and then back to the W shadow after, dodging out on a good amount of damage and CC. If Zed can get ahead, he should take complete control of the lane, however if he falls behind, there will be little he can do against Orianna.

Bot -
This lane is somewhat even, under the condition that Thresh does not land his hook or get a good flay. Lucian can bully out Twitch, but Janna will be able to give Twitch the shielding he needs to get stacks of poison up, and trade evenly with Lucian. The match-up swings though, when Thresh comes into play, if he can land a hook onto Twitch, or even walk up and get a solid flay, the damage trade is going to be huge, and EDG's duo lane will come out way ahead. As the lane progresses, this need for a hook/flay becomes even greater, and nets even more rewards. Once level 6 comes into play, there is even more bully potential for Thresh/Lucian, however a sneaky Twitch stealth can make for a lot of damage is not stopped by Thresh. If Lucian believes in Thresh, (which he of course will here at worlds) then Lucian can focus on bully Twitch into submission.

Jungle -
Khazix should look to farm, and then focus his efforts on Rumble. Keeping Rumble down will be key for this match-up, letting Ryze keep up with him in the mid-game and allowing Lucian/Zed to dominate in the mid-game without have to worry as much about Rumble.

Lane Match-ups – Star Horn Royal Club

Top -
Rumble has a rough time against Ryze as Ryze is able to easily harass him.

Mid -
I tend to like this match-up as Orianna, though it can be a risky one. Orianna has a lot more options in this match-up, able to farm safely, light bullying, super aggressive, or heavy tower pushing. The ball is really in Orianna's court in this match-up. Skilled enough, she will be able to weave in Auto Attacks and ball movements in between Zed's Q harass. Orianna should never stray too far from her ball though, if Zed tries to go all in with his shadow, then she needs to be able to bring it back quickly to fight back. As long as Orianna can dodge harassment, and is ready for Zed's all-in, then she should come out on top in this match-up. At 6 it becomes a little bit more risky, as Zed gains more kill/movement potential, but a well played Orianna can still beat him. If Orianna ever gets behind though, Zed will be able to control her very well.

Bot -
Twitch/Janna can fight against Lucian on even or better terms, however when Thresh comes into the picture, things get really rough. One hook or flay can spell disaster for SHR's duo lane, and with Twitch not having a natural escape, it is pretty likely that Thresh will hit more than one during the laning phase. Getting the 2v1 would be very good for Twitch, as it always is, but will hamper Rumble. If they do choose the 2v2, then be defensive, and farm, wait till level 6 and then try to make a really big play with a surprise stealth attack. Even if the laning phase goes rough, Twitch can always make a surprise roam into one of the other lanes.

Jungle -
Lee Sin should focus his attention on protecting mid, and attempting to gank Ryze to give Rumble a strong lead. Once level 6 is reached, Lee Sin should look for play making against Ryze as well, with a second option on Thresh in the bot lane.

Team Composition/Strategy – Edward Gaming

*Win Condition – Win game, win lane. Split-push in 4-1 and 1-1-3 and look for small skirmishes in the mid-game. Avoid getting picked by Twitch and the strong 5v5 of SHR

EDG have strong lanes this time around, with mid and bottom able to bully or at the very least keep the lane in the middle or pushed. As the match moves past the lanes, EDG will have great skirmish potential with Ryze/Khazix/Zed, even Lucian if he can be in a fight w/o drawing a 5v5. Thresh and Ryze can also find picks with the double CC. Mostly though, EDG should wait till the mid-game and put a lot of 2/3 man pressure onto SHR's neutral objectives. Trade the first dragon for a turret or two and avoid big team-fights. Even a small lead will offer EDG the chance to split-push with good effect and doing so will prevent SHR from using their AoE 5v5 fight.

Hopefully shut down Zed before he can split-push.

Game Notes -

A catch attempt in mid by EDG goes a little too deep and Ryze is forced to flash away when SHR collapse. Trade goes Ryze flash for Janna Exhaust.

A great rotation by EDG has them blocking SHR from moving 3 people to the bot turret, and forcing SHR to give up on the bottom turret.

Twitch gets out of getting caught by Thresh by holding still until the hook is thrown.

EDG are up a tower, but having sent their duo lane top, they lose dragon but get the top turret and save their own.

EDG make a 5v3 dive at the top T2 turret and get First Blood + 1 kill and the top T2 turret. The death turret comes into play only 8 minutes into the game.

EDG are doing a great job of rotating ins small groups and pushing SHR around.

A push mid by EDG pulls the TP from Rumble and the ultimate from Orianna. EDG use several flashes, but do get an Exhaust and TP.

Lee Sin burns way too much time up top, looking for a gank onto Ryze.

EDG with the stronger power at the moment, and the back timings scattered by SHR, EDG take a free dragon.

SHR try to collapse onto Lucian, but another Lee Syndrome, this time from SHR gets Lee Sin killed and causes Rumble to ultimate to try to make something of this initiation, but essentially wasting his ultimate. EDG turn around to chase SHR. A great shock-wave by Orianna, but there is nothing to follow it up. EDG get another kill onto Rumble and continue to chase, but they are all very low now and SHR turn around and Twitch gets a Quadra-kill. The entire fight goes 3 for 4 when it should have been 2 for 0. And all 4 kills are onto Twitch.

Zed tries to 1v1 Twitch, but Twitch with his BotRK and with SHR collapsing are able to turn it around into a kill on Zed and push on the bot turret, drawing EDG off of the mid turret.

EDG take dragon as SHR take middle turret.

EDG try to take a 5v5 fight, but they should not even be attempting this. They have the weaker 5v5 fight and with Twitch getting so far ahead with his quadra earlier. SHR go 4 for 1 and head to Baron. SHR get baron, but it takes too long and EDG are able to catch them low and kill 3 for 0.

Janna and Orianna try to catch out and 2v1 Zed, but Zed is able to kill Orianna and escape.

Game is very tense now, as EDG are slightly ahead, but SHR have the stronger 5v5 and with Twitch possibly being strong enough to 1v1 Zed.

A nice Janna Tornado catches Ryze when he is too far up from the mid turret and SHR are able to deal tons of damage and push him out, allowing them to take the mid turret.

SHR rotate to the top T2 and catch out Khazix in the process, Lee Sin and Twitch killing him. Zed goes for the kill on Twitch and is barely stopped by Janna shield and ultimate. Zed ends up dieing and SHR move to go get the dragon.

Zed split-pushes up to the bot T2 turret, but stops when he reaches it, even though SHR are on the other side of the map. Zed really should be pushing the turrets instead of dilly dallying in the jungle.

Zed is finally at the T2 bottom turret when SHR start Baron. Zed cannot make it there in time so he should be pushing the bottom instead of running to the fight, getting there after Baron is down.

SHR chase down EDG after taking baron and are able to out 4 for 2.

EDG setup a trap but Lee Sin properly tosses his Q into the bush from max range.

SHR throws down the equalizer under the inhibitor turret on bot lane, to force EDG off the turret, and to separate. Twitch goes crazy and super dives in, but is able to kill 2 and live. SHR keep the push up and win the game.

Item Notes -

Janna builds Mejai's when she should be building Mejai's against Thresh and Ryze, letting Zhonya's and QSS that SHR build later be used for Zed ultimate.

End Game Notes -

Once again EDG play better at the start of the game and generate an early lead. But they end up throwing it by being over aggressive and ruining their team composition once again.

SHR need to realize that, rather than winning the game on their own power at the moment, they are winning off of EDG's mistakes. SHR are using their team compositions properly though.

What Edward Gaming should have done -

Once again they didn't play their composition properly, or rather they didn't play against SHR's composition properly. They did great in the early-game and even during the start of the mid-game. EDG really had control of the map and of the game. However, over aggression in a chase gives Twitch the quadra kill when EDG could have just peeled off with the 2 kill advantage. Unfortunately they do not, and Twitch getting 4 kills and reaching his BotRK before Zed, really shuts down Zed's ability to split-push, which he could have done extremely well if this had not had happened.

After this, it was really rough for EDG to come back, and they never truly did. They try to split-push with Zed and it gets shut down until he picks up his BotRK later. But then they are team-fighting against a team they cannot beat. When SHR were doing Baron, Zed needed to just split-push, trade objectives, and delay until Ryze gets stronger, however Zed runs to the fight, and EDG lose another, way after Baron is taken. Zed should have just taken the bot lane while his team delays SHR. Need to properly play compositions.

Going forward, I'd like to see Orianna just be banned out. Don't pick it and don't let SHR get her. If EDG can continue their early-game plays and dominance, they can win as long as they respect and understand their team composition and SHR's composition.
