Lane Match-ups – Fnatic

Top -
Rumble has a rough time against Ryze as Ryze is able to easily harass him. Rumble must wait until level 2/3 before he can even attempt to fight back. Must land harpoon and slow Ryze to keep him in Flamespitter range if he tries to snare Rumble. A hard lane for Rumble, he will need to just survive until level 6 and his power-spike before trying to fight Ryze.

Mid -
Long range farm will be the name of the game for Syndra, staying away from Zed and taking down the creep waves as fast as possible, forcing Zed against his tower. Good stuns from Syndra can turn the lane in her favor and once level 6 hits can lead to a kill. Syndra must be careful of when she uses her ultimate though, as Zed can negate a good portion of it with his own ultimate if he is not locked up. Syndra can attempt to stun Zed as soon as his ultimate places him next to her, at the very least knocking him back a bit to prevent some damage. Mostly going to be a farm lane for Syndra while she looks for picks onto Zed or around the river area.

Bot -
I really love Nami into Thresh, it really provides a lot of safety for the lane and allows for sustain. FNC's duo will lose early though, and Kog'maw must be wary of Thresh hooks. Nami can protect Kog'maw through heals and bubbles, as long as she times it right against Lucian. Use the bubble as a prevention or zoning tool if necessary, until Thresh hook ends. Focus on trying to farm, and once the levels come in and the first backs, FNC should be able to start getting solid poke down onto OMG's duo while avoiding all-in fights.

Jungle -
Elise will be stronger than Khazix early, and should look to take advantage of this. Particularly a gank onto top would be strong if Rumble is not too low and Ryze is pushed, otherwise mid and bottom both have the ability to set up or follow up a gank with their own CC.

Lane Match-ups – OMG

Top -
Ryze is a lot stronger than Rumble early on and should look to abuse this fact. Constant harassment will put Rumble behind and as long as Ryze is able to dodge harpoons, should be able to do so without fear of retaliation. At level 6 he must be aware of Rumble's all-in power and respect it. Beware of ganks from Elise.

Mid -
A tricky lane for Zed, while still being even. Syndra has the advantage of range and push potential, as well as the long ranged stun. Zed must do his best to farm while dodge the skillshots of Syndra. If he is able to, he has greater trade and all-in potential, especially once level 6 comes into play. The key will be to avoid harassment though and get to level 6 without being put behind. At this point Zed can attempt to all-in Syndra, but must be respectful of her burst as well. Using his ultimate to dodge a chunk of Syndra's can be huge.

Bot -
Lucian/Thresh are a stronger bully lane from levels 1/2 and should really look to punish FNC's duo lane from the start. Get early damage onto Kog'maw and continue to get the damage, preventing him from ever being at even HP with OMG's duo. This will keep him on the back foot, and create greater kill potential if Thresh lands a hook. As the levels progress FNC will be able to fight better so OMG need to be aware of this.

Jungle -
Khazix will eventually out-scale Elise and should look to hard farm, especially to level 6. Attempt to mirror her, but wait to counter-gank and be aware of the possibility of her sieging turrets with a lane.

Team Composition/Strategy – Fnatic

*Win Condition – Get picks in the mid-game and properly use the power of Rumble's ultimate. Gain a lead, and move into the a zone control/siege/disengage play-style.

Fnatic have a team that is great at getting picks, sieging turrets, and disengaging. They need to make it to the power-points of Rumble and Kog'maw in the early-mid game without falling behind and then turn their gears on. OMG lack a solid form of engage and can only fight with a Thresh hook, or by brute force. As long Fnatic does not get behind, they can transition into their teams strategy in the mid-game.

With Elise/Syndra/Nami Fnatic have 3 ways to catch someone in a bad position, and can then chain CC for the kill without having to dive in. Rumble and Nami have great disengage if OMG try to brute force an engagement, after which Fnatic can turn around and return to their objective control or tower siege knowing OMG have expended their tools while Fnatic still have great pick ability. Kog'maw is great at the turret siege to make this type of play possible, and all of Fnatic's members get even greater power in the choke points of the jungle. As long as Fnatic do not fall early, they can take control in the mid-game.

Team Composition/Strategy – OMG

*Win Condition – Get an early lead with the lane bullies and hold onto it, scaling Ryze into the late-game before Kog'maw can. Split-push with Ryze and Zed, forcing Fnatic to split up.

OMG have a team that is really lacking in engage as well as poke. Their team is not very strong in the 5v5s, only has Thresh for pick potential, and is pretty bad at tower siege or defense. The saving grace, however, is that OMG's team is strong in the early game and will be able to bully from the start. If they can generate enough of a lead, Ryze and Zed can split-push and force Fnatic apart, taking away the strong siege/pick/disengage that they have. If they get to this point, then OMG can slowly pick Fnatic apart this way.

Game Notes -

Fnatic saw OMG enter their top side, and have not seen them leave, they know what OMG are doing.

Fnatic take wolves before Blue, making it harder for OMG to know when their buff respawns.

FNC attempt to take an early dragon, but are spotted out by a ward and stopped by OMG. A bit of wasted time by FNC.

FNC now move to get the 2v2 lanes, letting Rumble get the experience he needs and bypassing the weakest point of FNC's duo lane. It does however put both lanes, slightly behind their counterpart.

I feel like Khazix showed himself by dancing in the bush on the mid lane gank attempt, not sure though without access to the replay.

FNC's duo lane is able to take control of the duo lane.

OMG could have taken dragon after forcing Syndra to base. They have what could be a 5 man dragon with Elise up top, Rumble not yet 6, and Syndra pushed out.

A very deep dive by OMG earns FNC First Blood, just barely in a 1 for 1 trade. Rumble TP's into the fight, but does not get anything out of it and backs in a terrible spot. Rumble just lost so much and gave OMG a kill and dragon.

Great flash over of Nami's bubble by Ryze earns OMG a kill. Trade goes 1 turret and 1 kill for 1 turret. Rumble does get a lot of damage onto the top turret.

Chaotic team-fight/pick happens mid, and they trade 1 for 1.

OMG have a solid lead now and use it to bully down mid. Rumble is the farthest behind at the moment and it is hurting Fnatic. However if anyone is going to be behind, Rumble can do the most from it.

OMG try to flank FNC but a great Nami disengage and Rumble ultimate turn the fight around. FNC go 1 for 1 but are able to chase and get 2 more kills.

OMG take dragon and FNC pull the trigger too late to stop it and too early to have a proper fight. Syndra saves the day though, helping the fight go 3 for 2 in OMG's favor instead of 3 for 0.



Item Notes -

The double Hex Drinkers from Khazix and Zed are great against FNC's team.

Thresh is properly going for an early Aegis.

Ryze and Zed both have a solid lead and OMG should start to run a 1-3-1 split-push spreading Fnatic thin or trading 2 objectives for 1. A little bit hard for Zed to do this against Syndra though. Should look to find Rumble while Ryze fights Syndra.

Syndra shows her strength against Zed when she hits her stun. Both get away through with both ultimates used.

Zed dives 2 turrets deep against Kog'maw, they both kill each other, but it draws the rest of Fnatic away from dragon and OMG take it.

Not much goes on at the moment, OMG are still using Zed to split when they should be using Ryze, especially against Syndra. With a 1-3-1 being even more successful.

Fnatic, knowing OMG are trying to bait Baron, get positional advantage and push straight down mid. OMG make the call to take Baron while Fnatic push through and take the mid inhibitor. This is one of the best moves a team can make when behind, trade objectives and OMG made the wrong call letting this happen. Fnatic get 2 turrets and an inhibitor for Baron. FNC retreat into the jungle, where OMG cannot chase them, and they get dragon as well. OMG do take the mid T2 turret though.

Now Fnatic make an interesting call, which might have been based on a positioning mistake, however they realize it is the best call they have at the moment. OMG push through mid and take the inhibitor, diving to force Fnatic back, but Kog'maw is pushing bot, takes the T2 and inhibitor turret on OMG's bot lane.

Overall trade is Baron + 2 turrets + 1 inhibitor for 4 turrets + 1 inhibitor + dragon. Fnatic gain huge map advantage and come out with the larger gold trade.

Fnatic's 3 threats now all have a way to deal with Zed's ultimate.

OMG siege Fnatic's mid inhibitor, but Fnatic are able to get a pick and chain their CC, taking out Khazix and stopping the siege.

OMG try for Baron, but are pushed off by Fnatic. There is really no reason for OMG to be pushing for the Baron, they need to use their split-push potential. Fighting Fnatic at Baron is going to be extremely dangerous.

Ryze gets impatient and flashes in way ahead of his team and straight into the cc of Fnatic. Though he gets some decent damage down, he is brought too low to fight, before half of OMG's team can even respond to his aggression. Rumble and Nami ultimates allow Fnatic to chase, and get a kill, having hp and man advantage they are able to take OMG's mid inhibitor while a mass of minions attack OMG's bottom inhibitor. This pressure form the minions gives Fnatic a little bit of safety and for some reason OMG just ignore this giant wave.

OMG push mid, and FNC get caught out, OMG get the middle inhibitor. OMG just completely ignore the bottom wave for so long and minions kill the inhibitor while OMG take baron.

FNC take the top T2 turret while OMG take dragon. Smart move, map control is much better than gold at this point in the game.

Fnatic are making some crazy map rotations, but it is forcing OMG to respond to them rather than pushing into Fnatic's base. Doing a great job of delaying for inhibitor respawn.

The game is extremely tense at this point. 1 fight can determine the outcome of the game and with few wards available both teams are playing safe and waiting for opportunities.

Fnatic does sneak Baron this time around though, and Zed takes Fnatic's mid inhibitor.

Baron lets Fnatic push up mid, negating their downed inhibitor. Now Fnatic get to use the power of their comp and just fish for picks while sieging. Mikael's is used on Khazix, Fnatic are able to burn that and now get more opportunity. After a long siege, Fnatic are able to get a kill on Thresh and it earns them the mid inhibitor and the ability to push and take the bottom inhibitor. The very first baron trade comes up huge here, as it lets Fnatic take the second inhibitor.

Fnatic call OMG's bluff and charge top lane AFTER OMG take Fnatic's mid inhibitor. OMG could have base raced this with Ryze TPing in and I believe, won. Instead they recall and catch Fnatic and kill 3 for 0. OMG need to just rush middle right now and win, sending 1 back to deal with super minions, instead they try to find the last 2 members of Fnatic, but Nami and Kog'maw set a great amazing trap, killing Zed and freaking OMG out. OMG lose both Nexus turrets and gain nothing from that catch.

Fnatic now take another Baron, since OMG have to clean out their base.

This is the power of opening up the map rather than team-fighting. Fnatic have given themselves more options and rotation ability, and have used it greatly.

Fnatic push into OMG's base and its all about picks now. OMG give up 2 inhibitors. Fnatic take buffs, delaying a little bit for super minions to reach OMG's base and getting Kog'maw red.

FNC are being a little to aggressive at the bottom inhibitor, especially with Syndra ultimate down. They should be delaying for super minions and waiting for the ultimate to come back up. Unfortunately, they don't and Kog'maw gets dived on as he gets too close. Fnatic had the win right here, if they had just waited more patiently instead of trying to force the inhibitor, they could have had Syndra's ultimate up, and super minions pulling OMG away. OMG has no Nexus Turrets.

OMG push mid for the win, Zed dies to a Nexus turret and then Syndra and Kog'maw can push them off.

So now Rumble Teleports to top lane to try to kill the Nexus, this is a great play. I almost wish however, that he had sold all his items and bough Phantom dancer and BF Swords to attack the Nexus, since this is an all-in play anyways, or even sold his chain vest for a Zeal or Sheen or something for more building damage.

Fnatic are unable to find Khazix in time and he is able to recall and as we know if you watched the match, Rumble should have used his ultimate at the Nexus, on creeps and not on the fountain and Khazix. Fnatic try so hard and are 10 hp short of killing the Nexus.

OMG get baron and then delay until their inhibitors are back up. OMG will then push mid.

OMG dive, lose a member, but are able to buy enough time to take 2 of Fnatic's inhibitors.

FNC try to now push mid, desperately in a 5v4, but get flanked and thus the game ends.

Item Note -

2 Scrying Orbs come into play in the late game for both teams, as no one is able to buy wards with 6 items. Thanks for the point out Jatt.

End Game Notes -

There is almost too much to say than can be said. This game was amazingly fun to watch.

It was however, filled with mistakes and some team composition misplays.

There were several times during this match that both sides could have won but did not.

What Fnatic should have done -

First let me say, Fnatic played the map amazingly in the mid and late game. They were able to take a losing match, and completely put OMG onto the back foot. They turned the game around, by trading objectives and by opening up the map.

Having said that, the game turned into OMG's favor from a very early point. Ryze got a big lead over Rumble with the lane swap movements and this carried over into early-mid game movement. Especially when Fnatic tried to force some fights, but were picked off after some bad engagement attempts. From here, specifically after the second dragon, Fnatic had lost control of the game. They did a good job of drawing it out, and then brought it back in their favor later on with amazing strategic play.

I won't harp on the 10 hp Nexus, there was things Rumble, Syndra, and Elise could have done differently to get that 1 hit. However, Fnatic had the game won before this point. When they had 2 inhibitors down and were pressuring the third, all they had to do was wait. Super minions would have forced OMG back to defend the Nexus that had 0 turrets, and then Fnatic could have taken the inhibitor. Instead they try to take it before minions can make it a simple task and get caught out with Syndra ultimate down. This is probably the biggest misplay that Fnatic make all game and it turns an easy win, into a loss.


What OMG should have done -

Yes, it needs to be said. OMG should have won this game at several points, and never let Fnatic back in. Their win rides on Fnatic messing up two key situations where as OMG messed up many.

First, OMG played their split-push composition all wrong. They sent Zed against Syndra who already had a Zhonya's and had Ryze sit with the rest of the team instead of split-pushing himself. OMG could have easily ran a 1-3-1 split-push and pulled Fnatic apart, never letting them get back in the game.

OMG made some awful trades this game. Baron for inhibitors and at one point BOTH Nexus turrets. They also let Fnatic open up their bottom base, to take the mid inhibitor of Fnatic after theirs was already down.


On top of this, there was two points where OMG could have pushed into Fnatic's base and won. The first when Fnatic was pushing OMG's top lane, OMG had to position to base race and win. Secondly, after they catch Fnatic in the top lane, they run around searching for Kog'maw/Nami instead of just pushing Fnatic's Nexus turrets and Nexus in a 5v2.

Lane Match-ups – OMG

Top -
Irelia should have a decent time up top. She will get harassed by Lulu, however it will not be strong enough to push Irelia out of lane quickly enough. If Lulu pushes the lane hard into tower, Irelia is great at getting CS under tower. Irelia can expect to farm pretty easily and then transition into her power-spike with Sheen and her ultimate, then she will be able to win trades with Lulu.

Mid -
Zilean really has nothing he can do in this lane. Kassadin will block most of Zilean's bomb damage with the magic damage shield. Zilean should just focus on farming, keeping himself relevant while his passive helps out around the map. Attempt to hit Kassadin in the creep farming crossfire, however do not go out of your way to take damage to be able to do so. Just transition into the mid-game power that Zilean offers his team.

Bot -

Evelyn, the nightmare of solo matches. Good farm speed and should look to focus on that early on. Keep an eye on the lanes and if any of them are pushed up, go in for the gank. Being able to bypass wards makes Evelyn extremely strong at ganking pushed lanes. Look especially for a gank on top as Lulu will most likely be pushing.

Lane Match-ups – Fnatic

Top -
Lulu will have a bit of a rough time. She should be able to be safe early, however Irelia is very strong at ganks, and at trading in the later levels. Lulu might want to focus on harassing Irelia early, and not using her spells to push the lane. If Lulu is ever pushed, that will give Evelyn a prime opportunity to gank her. Outside of that, quick farming and lots of wards in the later levels. Lulu needs to just bide her time until she can provide her utility in the mid to late game team fights.

Mid -
Kassadin should be able to control this lane once a few levels and items start to come in. Zilean will be pushing hard against him, however with his magic damage shield, Kassadin should be able to prevent most of Zilean's damage, should he try to get any onto Kassadin. Get your items, and scale up. At 6 Kassadin will be able to put a lot of harassment onto Zilean and should look to bully him from then on.

Bot -

Jungle -
Khazix is going to need to out-farm Evelyn. It's going to be hard to keep track of her, but getting wards onto the wraith and wolf camp will be very effective. If Khazix can find and mirror Evelyn, then counter-ganking should be successful. Otherwise hard farm and move into the mid game and try to skirmish with Kassadin against Zilean and Evelyn, but avoiding Irelia.

Team Composition/Strategy – OMG

*Win Condition – Use Evelyn early on to apply pressure on the lanes and move into the mid-game. With OMG's mid-game power-spike, control the neutral objectives and pressure turrets with the siege potential of Kog'maw.

OMG have a team with a high power-spike in the mid-game. They need to go even in the lanes, or if possible win them, and then transition into dragon and jungle control once the first items come in for OMG. With 2 Trinity Force champions and with the mid-game strength of Zilean, OMG need to take control of vision and then keep the pressure up against Fnatic. Take over their jungle, nab every dragon, and push turrets whenever the previous two objectives are met. Kog'maw can siege turrets well, while FNC 's wave clear is not amazing. Irelia can also run a split-push to draw Lulu away, decreasing FNC's ability to defend against sieges. The pressure Evelyn provides early on will help OMG make it safely to the mid-game point.

Team Composition/Strategy – Fnatic

*Win Condition – Survive the early/mid game and make it to the point where Kassadin is out of his lull. Once Kassadin and Khazix reach decent power-points transition into 5v5 fights or split-lane pressure depending on how the lanes have been doing.

Fnatic have a team that is a little awkwardly made but that does somewhat cover the weaknesses of the team. FNC's biggest lull is going to be Kassadin and they really need to wait until he reaches a good power-point before going aggressive. Their bottom lane needs to take an early lead and keep it, being the strongest point of FNC early on. However they must respect Evelyn and the power of Nami. Lulu will especially need to respect Evelyn, as she is against Irelia. FNC need to just farm, and give up or trade for the first and second dragon. Get close to level 11 when Lulu and Kassadin will be getting strong, and then make a judgment call on what would be the best strategy.

Fnatic will then have the choice to either, fight as 5 if they are slightly behind or running even, or run a 1-1-3 split-push if they are ahead enough to put on the pressure. Send Lucian and Thresh to push against Irelia while Lulu takes on Zilean and Kassadin keeps a side lane pushed or cleared against Kog'maw. Then Fnatic can use the mobility of Kassadin and Lulu to find weak points of OMG's spread team to attack.

Game Notes -

Lucian is using a lot of mana to push into OMG's turret. Lucian and Thresh back super early, before level 3, coming back with a pink and a second Doran's.

A great setup by Fnatic earns them First Blood onto Khazix, by killing Nami as she tries to defend a pink ward. Fnatic had this planned.

Lulu is too pushed against Irelia and Evelyn ganks getting the kill. Lulu not picking up a pink ward on her first early back is what gave up this kill.

I get the first early back by Lucian/Thresh, however when he backs the second time, he is short the cost of that second Doran's blade for a BF Sword. Lucian ends up with Pick-axe and boots.

Khazix leaps on to Kog'maw in a gank attempt bottom, however Evelyn is there. Khazix gets stunned by Nami bubble and dies quickly. If you are going to leap in or dash in against a Nami, be prepared to flash away from the bubble. The gank was too forced really.

Zilean out-plays Kassadin as he tries to go all-in against Zilean.

Thresh throws out his hook really late against Kog'maw and misses out on a kill.

Kassadin goes too aggressive again against Zilean, during a 2v2, but does not have enough damage and the aggression puts him in a spot that he cannot get away from.

Miss-communication on Teleport ends up with Lulu dieing unnecessarily.

Fnatic are getting run around at this point. They look desperate to get something, and keep getting caught under turret or out in the river by OMG. Vision control is highly in OMG's favor.

At this point, OMG are very ahead and will have control of the game for the next 10-15 minutes. As long as they don't wait too long, and do not make poor dives, OMG should be able to continue to grow their lead. Taking the outer ring of turrets, and then transitioning into Baron control or sieging inhibitor turrets.

OMG should be sending Irelia to split-push. She could easily take the top turret if no one shows up, while the rest of OMG siege.

Fnatic smartly back off the so called “death” turret when OMG pull the trigger to take it out.

Lulu gets caught and OMG brute force down the mid inhibitor turret. Good use of a power play as Lulu's ultimate is the only thing that would keep Kassadin or Lucian alive against a dive.

With the exposed inhibitor now open, OMG will shop, and then brute force it down with their 10k gold lead.

With the mid inhibitor down, OMG do not actually use the opportunity to close the game. It's not until Fnatic gets themselves caught outside of their base that OMG make a move onto FNC's base. OMG needed to use the mid inhibitor death to either push hard for bottom inhibitor, creating strong pressure away from Baron, or pressure the top turret and jungle of Fnatic until they can vision starve FNC and then take Baron. OMG are lucky that Fnatic get themselves caught, otherwise the power play time that OMG had would have been completely wasted.

End Game Notes -

OMG only close out the game, after mistakes from Fnatic, not on their own power.

Fnatic play way too aggressive early on, especially with the champions they have and without knowledge of Evelyn. It puts them way too behind and they cannot do anything to stop OMG.

What Fnatic should have done -

In champ select, Fnatic could have taken Corki over Lucian. It would have given them similar early power and bully ability, while adding on long range poke and wave clear, something Fnatic were lacking. I don't think this is that big of an issue, but not having range really in any of their lanes, Fnatic have to realize that they must either dive into team-fights and go all-in with Lulu ultimate or split-up and spread OMG thin, getting them to make mistakes.

In the game, Fnatic were doing great at the start, but not respecting Evelyn and 4 over aggressive plays that FNC essentially forced put them too behind to really contest anything OMG was going to do.

1. Lulu not getting a pink ward on her early back really comes back to bit her in the butt, and the whole Fnatic team.

2. Khazix aggressively leaping in for a gank and not immediately flashing out when it went sour.

3. Kassadin trying to 1v1 Zilean when the farm was already going even.

4. Kassadin going again for a kill onto Zilean during a 2v2, best case scenario he gets a kill but dies anyways, worst case Zilean lives and Kassadin dies.


Fnatic really lost the game with these plays, putting them too behind to be able to perform their win condition and not having a way to get back into the game either.

Lane Match-ups – Fnatic

Top -
Rumble can attempt to bully Maokai early, but should not have too much success. Maokai will heal a lot from his passive due to Rumble's spell spamming. Rumble does win the all-in trades at the early levels, but since he lacks sustain Maokai will come out on top over time, this does however, mean that Maokai does not have kill threat on Rumble unless Rumble is significantly lower on HP. Once Rumble is able to get his double Mpen items (Sorcerer's Boots and Haunting Guise) he will have kill potential on Maoki, especially so if Maoki does not get early MR. Very vulnerable to a gank, but very high damage output if Lee Sin is there for the counter-gank.

Mid -
A very volatile match-up, if either champion gets ahead the lane will shift heavily into their favor. Zed should get as much poke as possible. At level 2 Zed will have the all-in potential and use it to push Talon out of lane or at least away from the creeps. At level 6 the match-up becomes a game of chicken with their ultimates, whoever uses theirs first most likely losing the fight. Any damage brought in by the junglers will help shift this match-up.

Bot -
Tristana/Janna is a slightly weaker lane than Corki/Thresh, but not by too much. Good Tornadoes to keep Thresh back and proper shielding by Janna will keep them in the fight in the lane. Things will get rougher as Corki gains levels and items, hitting his power-spike. FNC should just farm as much as possible, and hope to get ahead with Lee Sin ganks. Look for a potential tower trade, moving up top as the level 6's hit.

Jungle -
Lee Sin has the strength over Elise early on and should look to use it by trying to catch her out in human form in the jungle or by creating early ganks on mid and top, forcing her out. Must be aware of getting caught by the cocoon and letting Elise get her burst first.


Lane Match-ups – Samsung Blue

Top -
Maokai will be able to bully Rumble early and will be extremely safe. Will not be able to kill Rumble early though. Must build early MR to outlast Rumble's all in damage as it grows, especially when Rumble gets his double Mpen items. Needs Elise to gank for the kill, great CC on both and enough damage. Needs to be wary of the counter gank, as Rumble/Lee Sin damage will be much higher.

Mid -
A very volatile match. This lane will swing very heavily from the first kill/forced back on. Talon must respect that Zed will take an early lead at level 2, and accept it. From level 3 on, the match-up will be a bit of a toss up. Zed will have the greater poke potential as well as being able to trade evenly with Talon. Creep damage will be on Zed's side, as Talon must go onto Zed to get down his harassment, while Zed does not. Early help from Elise can really shift this match-up. Level 6 will be a game of chicken, whoever uses their ultimate first and tries to fight will most likely lose. Talon however, can combo Zed and then ultimate out. Dealing some damage and fast clearing the wave before moving elsewhere.

Bot -
SSB's duo lane will have an easy time in against FNC. There is really no threat from Tristana/Janna while all the potential lies with SSB in all aspects of the lane. However it will be hard to kill FNC's lane and the focus should be on bullying them out and denying CS.

Jungle -
Elise will lose out to Lee Sin early, but Elise is a pick made to be part of a composition and not on her power alone. Elise should farm, try to watch for and mirror Lee Sin, being prepared to save her allies when he tries to gank. Early Dragons will be useful as well, as she is very strong at this.

Team Composition/Strategy – Fnatic

*Win Condition – Do your own thing and win the game. Win game win lane.

Ew. This Fnatic team has no synergy at all. Tristana needs to scale into late game and only has the single protection of Janna in this match-up. Rumble really wants to bully around neutral objectives but has no synergy with anyone else on the team. Zed wants to just win his lane and then split-push, not being as effective in a full on team fight, but FNC have no wave clear to keep SSB at bay while he does so. Fnatic has to win their lanes hard to be able to win this game. Pick a lane and hard focus it. Preferably mid or top, and then just try to snowball that strength into dragon fights and split-push. Very difficult with the power spike of Talon and Corki. MUST get themselves a favorable early game.


Team Composition/Strategy – Samsung Blue

*Win Condition – Team-fight in 5v5's. Poke out FNC with Corki while sieging turrets. Avoid fights with FNC in the jungles.

SSB have a much much stronger team composition. Maokai and Elise will make a solid front-line duo. Corki can poke FNC in extended sieges or defenses and prep the FNC team for Talon to go all in and deal his decent AoE damage. There is so much AoE and tank ability on SSB and fighting FNC who are almost all single target. SSB just need to get a little tanky early and then use Corki's power-spike with Trinity Force to take control of the map. Their only real worry at this time is Rumble ultimate, and there is nothing to lock SSB in it. On top of the team-fight prowess that SSB had, they also have Elise and Thresh for getting picks. All in all, a superior team composition by far.


Game Notes -

FNC do not ward their red side jungle at the start, and do not go for an invade. Janna going for a late ward gets collapsed on. Runs the wrong way, however did not see Elise coming to cut her off.

SSB try to invade FNC's blue, but get caught out and FNC get a kill and then steal SSB's red buff while Elise takes FNC's red buff.

FNC with huge CS lead due to the invade.

Essential cocoon dodge by Rumble saves him from a tower dive.

Maokai uses TP to head top, committing himself away from dragon.

FNC do a neat lane swap, sending Zed top against Maokai and their duo lane mid against Talon.

Rumble recalling in a dumb spot gets delayed on his back.

SSB take dragon when Zed and FNC's duo switch lanes again.

Rumble catches Elise out and 1v1's her.

An amazing Thresh hook/Flash lantern gets Talon a kill onto Lee Sin.

FNC trying to catch SSB out in their jungle ends up in a small skirmish, going 1 for 1.

Thresh tries to ward w/o back-up and gets caught in FNC's jungle.

SSB get another free dragon.

Zed makes a great play after getting caught by Talon, and wins the duel just barely and then takes T1 bot turret. I must point out that Talon, finishing Hydra is likely what lost him this fight, the gold allocation is bad this early on for Talon. He could get more burst spending the gold going from Tiamat to Hydra, on a pick-axe and long sword, moving into Last Whisper.

SSB get a third free dragon. FNC is not getting anything when SSB takes these.

Tristana gets caught top.

With a lack of wave clear, Rumble essentially wastes his ultimate clearing a creep wave with it.

Because Rumble's ultimate is down, they miss a perfect opportunity to engage in a 3v3 over a ward fight.

So much time has been invested by FNC into Tristana, who does now have 2 items, but she still lacks protection from the team.

FNC catch Talon in bot with 2 on 1. FNC burn Rumble ultimate and Zed ultimate. Does work out though and FNC get mid T1.

However, FNC move to bot T2, while SSB go for Baron. Rumble equalizer being down, just barely, prevents him from stalling at Baron and gets caught trying to wait for it to come up.

FNC get the inhibitor, SSB get the Baron. Good play by FNC after they noticed SSB had started Baron. FNC also get Dragon, this gives the gold advantage and the map pressure advantage for this trade to FNC. However, SSB are very strong in a siege or team-fight.

Another great hook/lantern from Thresh allows Talon to kill Zed.

SSB siege the top T2 turret. Their team composition really letting them do this easy, poking with saplings and Corki missiles. Talon goes to clear mid and FNC send to push him out. FNC lose their top turret.

Rumble tries to engage in a 3v4, Janna and Zed are en route but no close enough at all. Zed decides to go after Talon, instead of joining the fight FNC have started, and Janna gets to the fight after its over. FNC lose 2 and then their top inhibitor. No reason to initiate this fight.

FNC sneak a dragon when SSB back.

SSB take baron after taking vision control, FNC unable to fight them.

FNC can no longer even attempt to fight SSB. Tristana has 4 items, but FNC cannot provide the team she needs to fight.

SSB siege FNC's base and slowly take all the inhibitors.

FNC make a good engage and trade 1 for 1, but SSB keep up the pressure mid with 2 lanes of super minions pushing hard into FNC's base. When Talon's ultimate comes back up, they dive the low FNC members. SSB get an Ace, though only Elise survives. Maokai TP's in and they finish off FNC's base.

Item Notes -

Rumble knowing that the lane swap was happening, starts with a Ruby Crystal for a quicker Haunting Guise.

Thresh goes Aegis and not Mikael's <3 because FNC have 0 lockdown.

End Game Notes -

FNC played very well but they lost to their team composition. Going even with SSB early on did not allow them to get the lead they had to have to beat SSB's better team composition.

Rumble used his ultimate several times to clear waves or unnecessarily on kills and it really cost FNC.

SSB took quite awhile to really let their composition start.

What Fnatic should have done -

Change their team composition. It was just horrid and had 0 synergy at all. I really wanted to see the Zed pick changed to Orianna or Xerath or something else. This would have given FNC more control, wave clear that they desperately needed, and disengage to protect Tristana. This would have been the biggest change and given their team, not complete synergy, but at least some synergy with Rumble/Orianna, and Tristana/Orianna. FNC's team had 0 synergy and it showed and cost them the game.


In game, they did well, but some wasted ultimates and then bad fight choices ended up solidifying the loss. On top of this, Fnatic let SSB have 3 free dragons, taking nothing for them.

Lane Match-ups – Samsung Blue

Top -
Lulu has a huge harass ability onto Irelia, especially early on. Auto attacks and spell harass will give Lulu the advantage. The all-in/trade potential is much lower, but with good shields and polymorphs Lulu should be able to minimize the disadvantage. Lulu should bring a good amount of potions after the first back, to be able to survive trades after this point. Once level 6 hits Lulu must be aware of the all-in from Irelia, however Lulu should be able to survive any engage. Must be aware of ganks from Elise, when Irelia is low enough to dash stun.

Mid -
A very even match-up in mid lane. The winner will be determined by skill. Zed has a lot of mobility with his shadows to dodge out on Ahri's skills and both have good farming and poke abilities. Zed should play out the lane, getting CS, poking with his Q, and absolutely dodging out on Ahri's charm. Getting charmed will turn the match-up. Things will get explosive once level 6 is reached as the kill potential for both champions is very high. Zed must remember that where he shows up after his ultimate is completely predictable and expect a Charm to be en-route. However, if Ahri's Charm is ever down, Zed has the opportunity to go completely all in without fear of much repercussion. Should be safe against ganks, as long as he keeps his shadow up when SSB does not know where Elise is.

Bot -
Kog'maw/Nami will have a hard time against Thresh/Lucian. Lucian has a lot of bullying ability and upfront damage early on. A good hook from Thresh can really set SSB behind. SSB need to respect the early levels and play defensive, but must not get shut down. It will be hard, especially if they get low early and cannot out sustain FNC's bot lane. Suggest a lane swap, especially since Lulu will do better in a 2v1.

Jungle -
Jarvan should farm better or even with Elise and has great gank potential, however his lanes have a bit of weak follow up. The best options would be to head bottom early on and try to burn a flash, returning at 6. Alternately at 6 Jarvan can head mid and provide extra damage onto Ahri with a Zed all in, hopefully giving just enough damage for Zed to get the kill.


Lane Match-ups – Fnatic

Top -
Irelia will get harassed by Lulu very easily, however it is unlikely that Lulu will get the kill or even be able to bully her out of lane. Lulu would have to get very ahead to gain kill threat. Irelia will be able to out trade in later levels, around 4/5 with the longer stun duration. A few trades like this and Irelia should be able to out-sustain and then push out Lulu. Irelia will gain kill potential at 6 and with sheen, though Lulu can stop this. Ganks from Elise will be huge, Irelia being able to setup the CC chains.

Mid -
A very even, skill based match-up. Both Ahri and Zed have even amounts of farm, harass, and all-in potential. The deciding factor will really be how well Ahri can land Charms and how well they both play with their ultimates. Getting help from Elise can really turn this match-up, but getting in on Zed will be hard.

Bot -
Thresh/Lucian have a big early advantage against SSB's bot lane. Good burst, good cc/pick with Thresh will allow them to bully SSB out in the early levels. Getting ahead quickly will be essential. The HP difference needs to be high enough to always keep Kog'maw from being able to safely trade harassment, keeping him too low for Nami's sustain to pull them ahead. FNC should put on the pressure early and keep it going, especially when the early AD lead comes in and before Kog'maw can get his Trinity Force.

Jungle -
Elise will most likely get out-farmed by Jarvan, however Elise's purpose in this composition is to add to the CC chain and pick potential. Aside from overall team use, Elise has good ability to take early dragons and for ganks on FNC's lanes. Every lane has the ability to setup or follow-up on ganks made by Elise.

Team Composition/Strategy – Samsung Blue

*Win Condition – Hard engage and win 5v5 team fights. Do not get behind the bully lanes and be able to collapse on and win mid and late game fights.

Samsung Blue's team composition is a bit weak in this match-up. They have a bit of a hard engage team, using Lulu speed on Jarvan for the engage. Samsung blue want to catch FNC in bad positioning and win a team-fight. Zed will attempt to get a kill during the engagement confusion while Kog'maw deals damage from a safe range.

Team Composition/Strategy – Fnatic

*Win Condition – Get picks throughout the game and then get fights when FNC are ahead in HP/numbers.

Fnatic have crafted an amazing pick composition. Every lane has some form of hard CC and Fnatic as a whole has 3 long ranged CC abilities, and if one hits, the rest will be chained into tons of damage or a kill. Fnatic also has a very strong bottom lane. If they can get bot lane ahead, then it will be extremely difficult for SSB to engage and survive. Fnatic should seek to get picks, especially as a 5v5 team, however they should never fight unless with a distinct advantage. Fnatic have all the ability to throw out skill shots at turrets and at dragon/jungle areas, but never need to fully commit to a fight. Especially against SSB's single engage team, Fnatic should have the edge if they sit back and look for picks.

Game Notes -

Early scuffle in bot river almost gets FNC a kill. Thresh misses hook and FNC are down ignite now.

SSB sees Thresh with Doran's Shield start and initiate 2v1 lanes to avoid the early advantage it gives over a gold generation item.

SSB heavy pressure top because freezes did not happen. Both sides fast push (FNC turn from it to dragon though) and prep for a dive where someone to show up to defend the towers.

Ahri respects the level disadvantage and backs off when Zed gets 6 first.

Good CS and item lead for FNC's bot lane when the lanes go back to 2v2.

FNC try to get a kill on Nami under turret, but use their CC's badly and get engaged upon when Jarvan show up. SSB get a kill and dragon. Zed roamed during this and Ahri was able to get a huge amount of damage onto the mid turret.

A good charm from Ahri gives her complete control of mid lane.

CS leads for all of FNC except Elise

Ahri gets another Charm, earns FNC the mid turret.

Zed moves to split-push after Ahri picks up Zhonya's. Duels with Irelia and wins, getting a kill.

FNC posture around dragon while Irelia takes top. SSB slowly work their way into dragon, but FNC brings the fight to them with Irelia TP. FNC's pick ability and lead in the bot lane really delay SSB. FNC get the dragon and a top turret. FNC play the dragon slow and safe.

Irelia heads to top lane but goes through river for no reason and gets caught and killed.

FNC is still ahead with less kills due to dragon, turrets, and huge CS leads.

SSB siege mid though with Irelia down, but make little progress.

FNC out rotate SSB during the next dragon spawn and get positioning to quickly take mid T2 turret. Ahri's ultimate was burned earlier however, and SSB use this small window to take dragon.

FNC get a 5v2 advantage on top lane, at SSB T2 top turret. They dive and get 2 kills and turret. SSB back from their 3 man push on FNC's top T2, should have stayed to take it, tower trading and having Lulu and Zed defend at the inhibitor.

FNC set up a pick immediately after, near Baron. Several missed CC's end up allowing SSB to kill Lucian, however FNC get all 3 remaining members. No reason for SSB to go in 3v5.

SSB make a super hard engage, but make the engage onto Elise, who is full tank. When SSB have lost all their initiation, FNC re-engage with their high CC, high pick potential and FNC ends up aceing SSB and taking Baron. This creates a massive lead. 10K gold and Baron. FNC have pretty much won the game now.

SSB trade bot T2 turret for mid T1, as they can't fight FNC atm. FNC siege bottom inhibitor turret. A charm lands onto Kog'maw and he dies before Nami can use Mikael's. FNC back off, wait for next wave and dive, getting 2 more kills and taking the inhibitor.

Zed just runs into their bot jungle, face-checking and dieing.

FNC control the map, getting tons of vision, especially on the top side to put pressure at the furthest point from the dead inhibitor.

An over aggressive pick attempt will get Irelia killed, but SSB cannot do anything with it.

With FNC's huge vision lead, they get baron for free. Playing it sneaky by 2 manning it.

With Baron and the huge lead, FNC siege inhibitors and turrets, waiting until a pick lands and then taking that opportunity to take the turrets and kills.

Item Notes -

Elise goes early Sight Stone and Giant's Belt. Does not pick up Ancient Golem due to scaling issues. However it does lose her some gold.

End Game Notes -

FNC played their pick composition extremely well. They rarely fought unless they had the advantage of a pick and always disengaged if they did not.

FNC also had great rotations that earned them turrets and kept them in a gold lead even when down in kills.

SSB lacked enough hard initiation to really get into FNC's team and survive through the CC that they had.

Lulu picks up a Lichbane, which is a bad buy in this match-up. SSB never were able to siege turrets and so the Lichbane could not get its best uses from Lulu. A Deathcap would have been more useful, providing better tank/survival ability for her team.

What Samsung Blue should have done -

First and foremost, I really dislike SSB's team composition and win strategy. They are really relying on their individual skill level rather than doing that AND having a solid strategy. SSB opt into a team that only has a single engage tool, and that being in their Jungler who has the least amount of “designated” gold throughout the game. The single engagement point is not enough for SSB, especially against the mass amount of CC and escape that FNC have on top of that, FNC is running a triple threat composition.

SSB really needed to change their composition in one of two ways. Add a second tank up top who can offer another form of engage and the ability to soak the damage and CC while Kog'maw deals damage from range. Secondly, SSB could have picked up Orianna to provide better engagement with Jarvan as well as greater protection to the single front-line, they also could have grabbed Xerath for poke ability while they play a more reserved style instead of an engage style.

In the game, SSB let themselves get out-rotated a lot and make a few defense at turrets in very bad numbers. Specifically when FNC was 4v2 on bot T2 turret. SSB should have just conceded this and taken FNC's top T2 turret in response.

The turret fast push up top also did not provide much for SSB. Forcing their weaker bot lane to return bottom with an item and level deficit that only grew as they spent time on the bottom lane.


SSB just, didn't find the right engage, and they really needed to. However this was more on them not being able to with their composition against the defensive pick/cc/mobility of FNC's team.
